monitoring open http sessions on a jboss server
by Attila Heidrich
Hi,
is there a way to monitor the open sessions of a jboss server?
I see I have some metrics for the http connector, and the requests per
second value is really useful, but we need some more detailed statistics.
It would be the best to have some browser to select the parameters... ;)
for webapp dveelopers it would be such a great benefit!
Afaik, there're some internal values in the jboss server, should I extend
the JBoss plugin to get a value, which isn't got now?

agent looks for wrong server
by Attila Heidrich
I think I have found something...
When I have installed the server, the IP address has a name in the hosts
file, ant this name hes been advertised to all of the agents. This name
doesn't exists any more.
How can I handle this? Many agents cannot connect at the moment. I have
repaired one by hand adding the old name again.
If I change the servers name, will the new name be advertised for the
working agents at least?

agent looks for wrong server
by Attila Heidrich
Hi!
I have installed lots of agents with some automation - all worked well.
After a time, I have had to change hosts/DNS configuration, and now some
agents wants to connect a server which doesn't have a resolvable name any
more. This nam is not the actual name of the rhqserver.
There is no reference to this name in the config, I have tried to remove
the java preferences from root's home, and restart the agent, but still
looks for a hostname, which has never been referenced by the config files.
I guess the agent has found the name after the IP address of the server
during the installation. It could have been the primary name in the hosts
file at that time.
How can I reset the agents data of the server without removing and
reinstalling the whole thing for all agent machines?

RHQ 4.12 Released
by Jay Shaughnessy
It is my pleasure to announce the release of RHQ 4.12. Notable changes are:
* The UI has been updated to follow the PatternFly look and feel
(http://www.patternfly.org). This is not totally complete, please
give us your feedback!
* Several new Bundle features:
o Ant bundles now support the rhq:handover that can pass content
to the plugin for processing, such as native script execution.
o Ant bundles can now use properties defined using property or
rhq:property tags in their recipes.
o Ant Bundle rhq:url-archive and rhq:archive tasks now support the
destinationDir attribute for exploded archives.
* The AS7/EAP plugin now supports Versioned Deployments.
o For example, when deploying myapp-1.0.0.war RHQ now gives you
resource myapp.war with version 1.0.0. In this way history is
not lost when updating the version, the resource remains the
same and only the version changes.
* Plugin writers can now report MISSING the availability type in
their getAvailability() implementations.
o Used when the underlying resource is detected as physically
removed, this can result in automatic uninventory or ignore of
the resource.
* An important effort has been made to harden the Postgres plugin.
* The RHQ Storage Node component continues to mature.
* The RHQ Server now runs on top of EAP 6.3.alpha (previously it
ran on EAP 6.1.Alpha).
Release notes and zip download links are here:

If you want to try out RHQ without too much setup, a pre-created Docker
image will soon be available here:

New How-tos section in the RHQ wiki
by Thomas Segismont
Hi,
I added a new How-tos section in the RHQ wiki:
https://docs.jboss.org/author/display/RHQ/How-tos
The first How-to explains how to write a bundle for AS7 or EAP6 in
Domain Mode (since 4.12).
I hope we'll be able to make this section grow with documentation for
the common (or less common) use cases, while we're adding or enhancing
RHQ features.
Of course, we'd be more than happy to host how-tos contributed by the
community!
Best regards,
Thomas
