I can't say without more information.
I would first go to the Inventory>Connection tab for the AS 5.1 Server
Resource in the JON GUI, and see if there is a yellow or red message box
at the top of the page with a connection error. If so, you'll need to
make sure the AS 5.1 instance and RHQ Agent on its box is up, and then
make sure all connection properties are correct and then save the
connection properties. If the RHQ Agent is able to successfully connect
to the AS 5.1 instance, the yellow box should go away, and the Resource
should turn green in the RHQ GUI within a few minutes. If this doesn't
happen, you should check your Agent log for errors.

Because there were some issues with the remote
interface to the Profile Service in that version.
These issues have been fixed in AS 6.0.Mx
<
http://6.0.Mx> and in EAP 5.0.
However, you can use the admin-console, which is
RHQ-based, to manage an AS 5.1 instance, because it
only uses the local interface to the Profile Service.
