Is there a way to keep the FC3 kernel from trying to probe the serial port? I know my Sawtooth PowerMac does NOT have one :-)

No there isn't. The 2.6.10-rc kernel should have this fixed though. I have one G4 box which I need to boot with 'maxcpus=1' to make it get past the serial init.
