qt5-qtwebengine available
by Dan Horák
Hi all,
thanks to the work the community does on porting the Chromium browser
to ppc64le, we can have also the qt5-qtwebengine library available.
Currently there are ~20 packages that are excluded on ppc64le due the
unavailability of the webengine.
My "talos" COPR repository [1] contains now the main qt5-qtwebengine
package, pyqtwebengine bindings for Python and also the qmapshack app.
Building calibre fails in a test, investigating now. If there are other
apps you would like to be made available, let me know.
The plan is to merge the ppc64le support into the official Fedora rpms,
but it can take some time and depends on support from the maintainers of
the QT stack.

Kernel Fedora 32
by Maurizio M
Hi Dan, don't worry thanks, I understand your commitments, in fact I
take this opportunity to congratulate you again for how you make Fedora
work on Power, it's really the best Linux distro in my opinion, today
available for Power architecture! I ended up following what the system
was telling me, it was asking for the missing firmware, I took
information about how to install it, I installed it and then it made me
reinstall all the missing dependencies. Now it does regular updates and
I'm writing you from version 5.6.19 just released. I also wanted to
inform you about another problem I had and solved with Fedora 32. Since
I had updated, dnfDragora had stopped working. So I had to update
manually from Shell until one day I came across a forum that talked
about the same problem I had. They said you had to rename the line:
mv /home/maurypower9/.config/dnfdragora.yaml
/home/maurypower9/.config/dnfdragora.yaml.old
like this. That is, by putting dnfdragfora.yaml.old, dnfdragora starts
working again and that's how it was. So obviously you have to be careful
when you go from one relase to another because that can happen.

Official Fedora Kernel Restore
by Maurizio M
Guys, I also solved the problem of the lack of Kernel in the second
Hardisk. I installed the missing firmware, I redid the installation
procedure of core kernel packages, modules and Kernel and the official
Kernel is restored. Thanks for the support

Kernel Fedora 32
by Maurizio M
Hi Dan, sorry I didn't answer your question about the DNF.CONF file line
right away. I'm sending you my DNF.CONF file so you can see it for
yourself, anyway the line you say is not there...
This file I use when I want to change for example the number of
installable Kernels before the system deletes the oldest ones. I've
noticed in any case that even a nice Hardisk, that line you're talking
about is not there but there the Kernel updates regularly...

Kernel FC32
by Maurizio M
Hi Dan, I guess my records are okay, I apologize to you for reporting a
problem I didn't realize was mine. I thought about it today and I also
understood why I didn't realize my problem right away. There is a
substantial difference between your official Kernel and the 2 I used so
far on Fedora 31 and now 32. The modified Kernels that are 5.4.0.2 and
5.5.0.RC1+ that you have also seen the procedure on wiki Raptor, that is
when you load Fedora with one of the 2, at the end of loading, these
Kernels have a function that disables the integrated GPU of Blackbird,
that is AST and enable in the meantime the GPU Navi 10. In this way, who
like me has a monitor that automatically detects which source transmits
and switches accordingly, the user doesn't have to do anything and
already has the video ready on the external GPU. The official kernel, on
the other hand, doesn't have this function and so once it finishes
loading, it keeps AST enabled and in the meantime, it also enables Navi
10. That's why it tricked me and even with Kernel 5.6.13, which had
actually solved the problem, I kept seeing it as an error. If it was
possible then, I ask you if it is possible to enable this function also
in the official Fedora Kernel. That said, I was telling you about my
error in deleting old Kernel. I can send you the output of the Kernels
currently appearing on my system. But in the meantime I'll tell you what
I did. I downloaded the files related to: Kernel 5.6.16, Kernel core
5.6.16, Kernel Devel 5.6.16 and Kernel modules, obviously the last ones
released so with suffix 300 fc32 ppc64le. I've tried to install these
modules but every time it gives me error telling me that some parts are
missing. I was able to install only the Devel version. I tell you what
he asks me to install the other 3. When I try to install the core it
tells me: error: Dependencies failed:
linux-firmware >= 20150904-56.git6ebf5d57 needed by
kernel-core-5.6.16-300.fc32.ppc64le.
When I try to install the other 2 it tells me that the remaining parts
are missing obviously because each one has its own dependencies as you
know better than me. From what I understand anyway, what I miss mainly
is this linux-firmware to install the core. Once I have the core
installed I should be able to install modules and Kernel 5.6.16.
The grep command list is the following, I'll copy and paste the output
from terminal:
[root@maurypower9 Downloaded]# rpm -qa | grep kernel
libreport-plugin-kerneloops-2.13.1-4.fc32.ppc64le
kernel-headers-5.6.11-300.fc32.ppc64le
kernel-devel-5.6.16-300.fc32.ppc64le
abrt-addon-kerneloops-2.14.2-2.fc32.ppc64le
As you can see, only the devel part has no dependencies and I was able
to install it, the others I can't because I can't put cores because that
firmware is missing and I don't understand how I lost it, maybe by
eliminating Devel at the time, it also eliminates that firmware.
The command I use to install obviously is: rpm -i followed by the name
of the part of Kernel I want to install.
I hope I gave you all the necessary information, thank you very much for
your support.

Kernel Fedora 32
by Maurizio M
Guys, I was able to boot Kernel 5.6.15 with Navi 10. The problem was in
my monitor that didn't switch the video output when Fedora 32 was
booting with the Navi10 GPU. I didn't realize the problem because with
Kernel 5.4.0.2 with Patch and with Kernel 5.5.0.RC1+, the switching
happens automatically, as if in the official Kernel 5.6, something is
missing that makes the monitor detect that Navi 10 is sending video
signal, while in Kernel 5.4 and 5.5 it is. Thanks for your support, I
have one more question.
Some time ago in 1 of the 2 hard disks where I installed Fedora, I made
an error in deleting the old Kernel, my error was to delete not only the
kernel and its part called core, but also the part called devel. Since
that moment I don't get new Kernels during updates anymore. What should
I do to restore the arrival of Kernels in updates?
Thanks

Output Command dmesg and CAT
by Maurizio M
Hi, I ran the commands you requested, I ran the dmesg command both in
SSH Root mode and inside Fedora, I made you 2 files. I ran the CAT
command from Fedora 32 because the output is available only from Fedora,
in SSH Root it is not executable. Let me know if it's okay ... Thanks
I am attaching the 3 text files with the copy of the various outputs.
