New maniadrive maintainer needed
by Bruno Wolff III
Maniadrive has been orphaned for f25 going forward. It has no upstream
support and has been broken by the switch from php 5 to php 7 in f25.
(See: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1368574)
I tried to figure out how to adjust to the new php version, but was only
able to find help with simple zval usage, but Maniadrive does some more
complicated stuff that I couldn't figure out how to adapt.
We could use a maintainer who is familiar with php to keep it in the
distribution. Otherwise it will be getting retired pretty soon.

Games SIG meetings over IRC

So, I mentioned this on IRC a week or two ago, but I think quasiregular IRC
meetings would be great in letting us identify stuff to work on at a level
perhaps larger than "I think game X or library Y should be packaged in
Fedora".
To that end, how do we go about picking a meeting time?

SDL_mng and bodhi
by Dennis Payne
I've uploaded my first package to bodhi, SDL_mng. I've set the karma
threshold to 1 since I doubt there will be many testers. I determined I
can't add karma which I understand.
What should I do? Should I ask people to test the package (here or on
another fedora list)? Are there sufficient testers who try random
packages that I should just wait? For Fedora 25, should I submit an
update to bodhi or do I not have to since it hasn't bee released yet?

Reviving the Games SIG
by Justin W. Flory
Hello all!
I know this mailing list has been mostly inactive for quite some time
and a lot of the initial inertia for the tasks that this SIG was
responsible have fallen by the wayside over the years.
== Bringing back the SIG ==
Today, some extended discussion happened across #fedora-games /
#fedora-join on IRC for how to bring back some life to this SIG. bkeys
and I had discussed ideas about bringing information and tools in the
open source gaming world into Fedora and communicate that with users.
== Roll call ==
To help get things rolling here once again, I'd like to propose a
"sound-off" or roll call of everyone in this mailing list who is still
interested in contributing or participating to efforts to help this SIG
begin to move again. This will help us get an idea of who is around,
what your skill sets are, and how you would be able to contribute.
== Resources ==
To help get any interested members onto the same page, there are some
resources available to us now to help organize plans, thoughts, and
communication. Obviously, this mailing list is a resource, but here are
some more:
* IRC: #fedora-games on irc.freenode.net
* FAS: https://admin.fedoraproject.org/accounts/group/view/games-sig
(apply after (re-)sending an introduction to the list)
* Wiki page: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/SIGs/Games
It would be great to see some more people hang out in the IRC channel as
well.
Thanks everyone! Hoping to see where things go from here. :) My own
introduction will be coming shortly...

tetrinetx help need
by Sérgio Basto
Hi, tetrinetx was retire last week due use of initd scripts ,
I'm testing it in F23, and [1] , doesn't start because doesn't resolve
ipv6 , tetrinetx depends on adns and adns is a very old gnu package [2]
, source 1.4 is not updated since Dec 19 2007 , I checked [3] and we
got version 1.5.1 released 5 days ago.
For unretire tetrinetx , we need also add systemd unit to the package ,
maybe also we may move tetrinet from rpmfusion to Fedora proper.
Anyone could help in maintain this package in Fedora ?

Self Introduction: Christopher Thielen
by Christopher Thielen
Hi Fedora Games SIG,
My name is Christopher Thielen. I'm a 30 year old programmer working for
the University of California. I've been using Red Hat flavors of Linux
since I got my hands on Red Hat Linux 7.0 circa 2000.
I created a game called Epiar (http://epiar.net) back in 2001 or so
which saw most of its activity between 2002 and 2006. I've been working
on the codebase in my off hours and hope to package it up for Fedora
after its next release (2017?). It's a clone of games similar to Escape
Velocity, Wing Commander: Privateer, etc. I hope to get it finished up
one day.
Besides that, I've been lurking on this mailing list as I'm interested
in seeing more open source games get packaged and thrive. I think
there's a really honest, independent game development community in the
open source world that I enjoy seeing. It's a terrific form of
self-expression and fun.
So, hello all,
Christopher Thielen
