Michael was right.
Tests with ubuntu were done with the server media. I didn't try with the
desktop media due to good reasons. It is not an install media but a live media
that you can "copy" to your hard disk. As such, there are very little packages
there, and most of the space goes into the filesystem that the livecd will
mount. In particular, as there is no a base-files to guess the distro flavour,
no distro or profile can be created. And for the repo, even in the case it were
created, it should content only the .deb whithin the live media, so it will not
serve for provision a new system.
We should probably put this up on the Wiki somewhere, or maybe we could
make it also yield a friendly error message if someone tries that?
Didn't know they only had live media for the desktop builds (Fedora has
both, but yes, you don't import the live Fedora media either).

P.S.: I've been appart from cobbler for a few months. I'm in the process to get
updated, so hopefully I'll be soon in shape to contribute again to this stuff.
Good to hear -- I do believe we've missed you there.
