Generally you should never have to look at these files. I'll teach you a
trick.

If the install is going interactive most likely what is happening is
that you don't have a kickstart file that answers the right questions
assigned to the profile.
"cobbler profile edit --name=foo
--kickstart="/var/lib/cobbler/kickstarts/sample.ks"
That was the solution; I just didn't have a kickstart file. Thanks!
(I don't recall having to set the kickstart file in cobbler 1.4.x, but
then I may have simply forgotten...)
