If I'm reading that gist correctly, that bootcfg template is for the Dell respin
of ESXi 5.5. There is a bootcfg template for vanilla ESXi 5.5 in the Cobbler
tree already if that's what you're using. It should work with vendors'
respins
but won't include the extra modules those vendors include.

I've been meaning to rewrite this template to allow more flexibility such as
vendor respins and wider version support (one template for all ESXi 5.x).

Finally cracked it today!
So there are two files needed to be updated. The file exist in github - and
need to be updated on your server manually.
So first download to a safe place the following files:
*
https://github.com/cobbler/cobbler/raw/master/config/distro_signatures.json
*
https://gist.github.com/relistan/7794032 - you need *bootcfg_esxi55.template*
distro_signatures.json replaces the existing files
/etc/cobbler/distro_signatures.json and /var/lib/cobbler/distro_signatures.json
while bootcfg_esxi55.template becomes /etc/cobbler/pxe/bootcfg_esxi55.template
I've not done anything other than import with these changes. However Karl
Matthias comments may help with subsequent steps.
Kind regards
Simon
