Hi,
Is there a way to get Cobbler to allow the same ip address to be entered
into more that one system?
Yes.
Hostnames too, if you like, although both of these are disabled by default
I build systems for small networks that sometimes use the same
rfc-1918
address in the internal network.
Sometimes it is also desirable to have the same public address on more
than one system to allow me to setup cold spares so that the systems can be
swapped out.
I looked at the documentation but I could not find anything that
addresses this.
read /etc/cobbler settings, this stuff is quite near the top. The file
is fairly self-documenting, but here's the first section for reference:
# cobbler settings file
# restart cobblerd and run "cobbler sync" after making changes
# This config file is in YAML 1.0 format
# see
http://yaml.org
# ==========================================================
# if 1, cobbler will allow insertions of system records that duplicate
# the --dns-name information of other system records. In general,
# this is undesirable and should be left 0.
allow_duplicate_hostnames: 0
# if 1, cobbler will allow insertions of system records that duplicate
# the ip address information of other system records. In general,
# this is undesirable and should be left 0.
allow_duplicate_ips: 0
# if 1, cobbler will allow insertions of system records that duplicate
# the mac address information of other system records. In general,
# this is undesirable.
allow_duplicate_macs: 0
Any changes in there require that you restart cobblerd for them to take
effect.
