With "cobbler distro add", it is possible to use --breed=debian to make
it work with preseed files. I am told if you can make Ubuntu's
"kickseed" to work you do not need to use --breed. Cobbler has been
installed successfully on Debian in the past.
Since Ubuntu is largely just Debian with better marketing and less
openness, it should be doable with no further complications :) In all
fairness, we are just as interested in those users.
So, if you install it, what doesn't work? "cobbler repo add" and
"cobbler import" will not work yet, but the basic boot infrastructure
should. I will gladly take patches for that support for those should
someone want to contribute it, as I do have an interest in seeing
Cobbler deployed to Debian based distros as Cobbler seems to be being
compared favourably to FAI. If someone also would like to package
Cobbler on Debian and maintain it, that is also interesting.
