editing profile server override is not possible
by Léon Keijser
Hi,
I think i've stumbled upon a bug:
[root@xen1 xen]# cobbler profile edit --name=xenhost --server=10.1.4.165
Values instance has no attribute 'server'
File "/usr/lib/python2.4/site-packages/cobbler/cobbler.py", line 83,

rc = BootCLI().run(sys.argv)
File "/usr/lib/python2.4/site-packages/cobbler/cobbler.py", line 61,
in run
return self.loader.run(args)
File "/usr/lib/python2.4/site-packages/cobbler/commands.py", line 122,
in run
return fn.run()
File
"/usr/lib/python2.4/site-packages/cobbler/modules/cli_profile.py", line

obj.set_server(self.options.server)
[root@xen1 xen]# rpm -q cobbler

Koan, SElinux and EL5.2
by Jasper Capel
Hi all,
A colleague of mine ran into a problem today, using koan on a
selinux-enabled CentOS 5.2 machine:
/usr/bin/chcon -t
virt_image_t /dev/mapper/*snip*--disk0
/usr/bin/chcon: failed to change context
of /dev/mapper/*snip*--disk0 to
system_u:object_r:virt_image_t: Invalid argument
SELinux security context setting to LVM partition failed
virt_image_t is provided by the "Virt" module, and I suspect this module
was introduced in RHEL5.3.
So, for now, while CentOS5.3 is still unavailable, there's the following
workaround:
wget
ftp://ftp.redhat.com/pub/redhat/linux/enterprise/5Server/en/os/SRPMS/seli...
rpmbuild --rebuild selinux-policy-2.4.6-203.el5.src.rpm
and install the resulting selinux-policy and selinux-policy-targeted RPMs.

ris-linux review pending
by Jeroen van Meeuwen
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

Hi,
It would mean a great deal for me if someone would be able to pick up
the review of "ris-linux", currently pending at
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=469052
This would enable us to make a step forward in the process of
integrating Cobbler and provisioning that-other-operating-system. I have
it up and running of course, but having it properly packaged means other
people get to play with it, too.
Kind regards,
Jeroen van Meeuwen

default gateway / f10 / static IPs
by Dave Hatton
Hi all,
I've noticed that if I configure a static interface and set its IP
address for a Fedora10 target, I don't get the default gateway set
properly. In fact it is set to the IP address of eth0.
There is bugzilla report 476089 against NetworkManager describing this,
and the suggested patch has already been applied to NetwrokManager git,
but as yet, it does not appear to be out in a RPM. I guess this will be
fixed in a RPM later than NetworkManager-0.7.0-1.git20090102.
In the mean, I find this is "fixed" by
chkconfig NetworkManager off && service NetworkManager stop
chkconfig network on && service network start
This seems ok to do - especially as I have selected a static interface
so probably don't want NetworkManager anyway.
Hope this help someone else.

[PATCH] to fix ticket #349
by Dylan Swift
Hello All,
Thanks to all for providing us with Cobbler - I have only been using
it a few days and I have managed to save myself several hours work by
using it to perform bios updates to IBM blades. So in order to do my
bit, here is a patch that I believe will fix a ticket I have raised on
trac:
When editing images the page always reports 'image type' iso,
regardless of the type specified in the image definition in
/var/lib/cobbler/config/images.d/<image_definition_file>
I'm not familiar with Python or Cheetah, so I may be undoing something
that serves a genuine purpose, but it appears that two additional
lines have been added to the template file
/usr/share/cobbler/webui_templates/image_edit.tmpl in an if statement
where the image_type is checked (around line #337). It looks like it
has been added for a reason, but I can't quite work out why! It may be
obvious to someone, but as I say I'm new to cobbler and
python/cheetah.
So, I propose the following patch to fix this behaviour
--- /usr/share/cobbler/webui_templates/image_edit.tmpl.orig
2009-01-26 21:01:01.000000000 +0000
+++ /usr/share/cobbler/webui_templates/image_edit.tmpl 2009-01-26

Is anyone using authz_ownership.py, /etc/cobbler/acls.conf, or OMAPI support for DHCP?
by Michael DeHaan
I'm curious as to who is using the ownership module and whether they are
using it via the webapp or just as a security layer for XMLRPC.
Namely, I haven't heard any bugs about it or questions in a long time,
so the question comes up as to whether it's in use.
Anyway, if you are using it, feedback welcome.
We never finished the feature that would allow folks addressability to
only specific fields in the webapp, though we /did/ put the ACL system
in place /etc/cobbler/acls.conf -- I'm also interested if anyone is
using that API feature.
No plans in mind, though I am generally in favor of deprecating dark
corners of the app that are not used. I'm hoping this one /is/ used.
We've talked about OMAPI before too -- it's buggy when using the DHCP
management options. This is one I'm highly inclined to remove because
we know the leases expire and it doesn't clean up with them well. In
which case, a cobbler sync would be required after making edits in order
to apply DHCP changes when Cobbler's DHCP management feature was enabled.

PATCH: paginate.tmpl
by Joseph Boyer Jr.
Folks,
I have a many systems in my cobbler environment, over 500 as of now, and it became a real pain to sift through the dozen pages of so looking for a particular machine. Thus, I have added a search field and number of items to display field to the default paginate.tmpl file. I find it useful and though other that use the webUI may as well.
Cheers,
joe

Patch queue
by Michael DeHaan
I got slightly behind with the patch queue while working on performance
stuff and getting the tests going again.
I'll merge all outstanding patches to devel or master & devel as
appropriate tomorrow, and then on to seeing about cutting a couple of
processes out of cobblerd (only one common XMLRPC port, also removing
the syslog listener now that we have the new anamon feature in 1.5).
