Currently there are three things enqueued for 1.6.5
- Don't use simplejson on RHEL 4 and before since it can lead to unicode problems - Jasper Capel's fix for koan to not add virtual interfaces for vlan tagged interface names - Allow F-11 imports and also create distros that correctly pair PAE and non-PAE kernel/initrds (creating one distro/profile for each combo).
If there is anything else that needs to be included, let me know.
Otherwise we'll release this after the third item is all polished and done with testing. (So this makes 2 fixes for cobbler, technically, and 1 for koan).
(Meanwhile we're working on the devel branch, primarily focusing on Django features and underlying code simplification to enable that.)

Do you know if the updates you added to find newer bootloaders (specifically yaboot) are included? If that's too invasive, would a short term solution of updating the yaboot binary included in 1.6.x be acceptable?
Thanks, James

I've implemented the "download boot loaders" code in the devel branch.
I don't want to update the 1.7 boot loaders because it involves checking in /more/ binary file changes in git, which is what we are trying to eliminate. However seeing I think the number of folks wanting to netboot ppc would be really low, you could always update the yaboot file post install to supply a newer version.
(Incidentally, the changelog for 1.6 is a bit larger now -- so more things are fixed than I initially mentioned... I've closed a few more items from Trac and may have one more done before we release this -- this will be included in the release announcements).

That's what I'm doing now, I just need to always remember to reset the symlink to the newer yaboot whenever I run 'cobbler sync'. If I ever get around to creating some documentation (https://fedorahosted.org/cobbler/ticket/432), I'll include this point.
Thanks, James

There's a post sync trigger you could use in the interim.

I'm planning on pushing this out tomorrow so we have some more time for testing.
Here's the list of things included:
- (BUGF) don't use json on python x<=2.3 since we know it's simplejson x<2.0, which has unicode issues - (BUGF) don't add duplicate interfaces in koan if vlan tagged - (FEAT) support F-11 imports - (BUGF) pair PAE and non-PAE content in imports better - (BUGF) don't try to scp /etc/cobbler/*.ks on replicate, this is an old path - (BUGF) set proper umask on .mtime files - (BUGF) fix koan error with unspecified arch using --kexec - (BUGF) don't use --onboot=on in network config for kickstart for RHEL 3.
