I have been going through some old mailing list emails trying to find an answer to this. I need to take the output buildiso standalone and put it on a USB. Has anyone successfully done this recently? I tried feeding the iso into unetbootin to create the usb. That resulted in 'no operating system found' when attempting to boot from it. I am in the middle of trying it with livecd-iso-to-disk. Any other ideas?
Thanks!
I had this sorts-kinda-working a while back. I will see if I can exhume my notes.
The problem is that the way cobbler operates, you need to get a way to tell it to NOT reformat the USB thumb and try to make it part of the system you are installing.
Again, I was tinkering with this and got sidetracked. I will try to look for notes.

I haven't tried this specifically with a Cobbler-made ISO, but I have built other ISOs myself and used the isohybrid tool to make them bootable from a USB stick.
NAME isohybrid - Postprocess ISO images for hybrid mode
SYNOPSIS isohybrid [OPTIONS] IMAGE
DESCRIPTION Starting in version 3.72, ISOLINUX supports a "hybrid mode" which can be booted from either CD-ROM or from a device which BIOS considers a hard disk or ZIP disk, e.g. a USB key or similar.
To enable this mode, the .iso image needs to be postprecessed with this utility.
