These are files, not patches, do you have links to specific patches you applied so we can check to see that they are in fact applied to master?
We can crank out a 1.6.5 if we missed something -- though it will probably be the week after next (due to other work commitments) unless we happen to get it out today.

I should also add both my F-10 machines still don't exhibit this problem -- the repo field itself does not show itself saved as unicode, nor does the file. So it's even better than if it saved it as (valid) u"foo", and most definitely isn't doing "ufoo".
Not saying that Tom doesn't have a problem, he likely does, but the code looks good to me -- the question was whether a patch didn't make it from devel to master, which, right now, I'm not seeing.
