lvm resizing and shifting
by Craig White
My hard drive...
# fdisk -l /dev/sda
Disk /dev/sda: 203.9 GB, 203928109056 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 24792 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes
Disk identifier: 0x00086350
Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/sda1 * 1 13 104391 83 Linux
/dev/sda2 14 24792 199037317+ 8e Linux LVM
# df -h
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/root 88G 54G 30G 65% /
/dev/sda1 99M 36M 59M 39% /boot
this as a result of resizing/shrinking /dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00 down
from approximately 180 Gb down to 90 Gb (obviously the ext3 filesystem
was resized first because it's working).
I wanted to create free space in the process to do another install not
in the LVM but apparently the swap portion /dev/VolGroup00/LogVol01 is 1
Gb and I'm guessing that it has to be moved to be contiguous
with /dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00 and that should somehow make the allow the
rest of the space to be free to be re-used in other ways.
What piece of information am I missing to make the now approx 90Gb free?

FC9 NetworkManager & WPA
by Devon Harding
I just installed Fedora Core 9 on my Fujitsu notebook and I can't seem to
get the WPA wireless working. When I click on the network icon in the
panel, it lists my Dlink wireless router's SSID (WPA). Now when I click my
ssid, it prompts for a WEP key instead of WPA. What gives? How do I get it
to detect WPA networks?

Unintended consequences of NOSCRIPT add-on.
by Aaron Konstam
Yesterday as result og a message on this list I added the NOSCRIPT
add-on to my Firefox. The result was this morning was that I could not
login to TIAA_CREF to check my investments.
Now NOSCRIPT says it allows you to run content only from sites you
trust. How would I indicate that I can trust TIAA_CREF?

IPTABLES help
by Arun Shrimali
Dear All,
I am having a problem with configuring IPTABLES
*My Setup :*
Fedora 6, as a proxy server having three NICs as follows
eth 0 - not in use
eth1 - IP (192.16.251.234 gw - 192.16.250.246) Connected to LAN
eth2 - IP (192.16.250.246 gw - 192.16.250.245) Connected to router of ISP
LAN has the mix users of Ubuntu and Windows
We are using squid (with NTSA authentication) for HTTP traffic, which is
working fine.
*
My Problem *:
I want my users to use ftp to upload file for different reasons.
Thus any FTP traffic (only ftp) at eth1 should be route to eth2, such that
to connect to ftp site and upload the content.
I have tried ip_conntrack_ftp but does not helped.
Can any body help me to route the ftp traffic
regards

FreeNX on fc9.x86_64
by V Pomerol
After crossing several obstacles in getting FreeNX to work on
fc9.x86_64 I still cannot get it to run, and I would appreciate any
help on this issue.
Here is what I already did:
1. put SELinux in permissive mode (this resolved an authentication
issue reported by the freenx client, damn selinux!)
2. I followed the instructions in the following bugzilla comment
(https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=446816#c11). I now have
the following two packages installed:
$ rpm -qa | grep nx
nx-3.2.0-27.fc9.i386
freenx-server-0.7.2-8.fc9.i386
3. I installed xfs and manually started the service in runlevel 3.
I can now finally run nxnode on the server. Executing
'/usr/libexec/nx/nxnode --agent' on the server produces the following
errors:
------------------------

Does anyone have any idea on how to proceed in resolving this remaining issue?

Wouldn't udev rules be easier to build for something like this? Or is there something that HAL can give you over udev?

Hmm, sounds like the passphrase is safe, but the passphrase-encrypted
private key is in the hands of the bad guys, a good reason to revoke
the key.
