[FC8] ssh and CAC card???

From what I understood, the change to openssh listed in: rpm -q --changelog openssh |less as: "* Wed Jun 20 2007 Tomas Mraz <tmraz(a)redhat.com> - 4.5p1-7 - experimental NSS keys support - correctly setup context when empty level requested (#234951) " was supposed to allow the Common Access Card (CAC) to work with the shipped Fedora 8 ssh. As per NSS usual, everything is undocumented, i.e., `ssh-add --help` does not help at all, and `man ssh-add` points to `ssh-add -s reader` # ssh-add -s 0 Enter passphrase for smartcard: SSH_AGENT_FAILURE Could not add card: 0 # ssh-add -s 1 Enter passphrase for smartcard: SSH_AGENT_FAILURE Could not add card: 1 So does anyone know how to use the possible functionality, or are we reduced to reading the source? -- Todd Denniston Crane Division, Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC Crane) Harnessing the Power of Technology for the Warfighter

Apache fails to resume after hibernation

I've noticed recently that Apache often (or perhaps always) doesn't respond after a system hibernate/resume cycle. After restarting it ('apachectl restart') all is well. I could script an automatic restart after resuming, but I wondered if this is a well-known problem with a simpler solution. poc

This list's search engine not working?

Ever since I stumbled across this list, I seem to have major difficulties searching the archives. Say I want to see my posts to the list (they all have the same footer as below), I believe I could go to http://www.redhat.com/archives/fedora-list/ and enter "HaJo" as a search string. Searching in all sections, I get 0 results. Does the search engine ignore me by some reason? BTW -- I've been posting since about June, and when showing the archives sorted by author, I do find my posts. OK, not the most helpful to search for my own posts, but I do have the same issue when searching for given topics. Any other search engine out there indexing this list reliably? This means you will probably need to download Apache Jakarta Tomcat (either binaries, or the source which you'll need to build) and install it. Hope this helps. Hi gys, I'm running F38 with *Gnome/X-Wayland*, and in my environment I do not need (hate it) the *Caps Lock* key.Question: How to realize the disabling system wide, and how to get it working again? Virtualbox vs VMware for Fedora?

All; I am running Fedora39, I have run VMware workstation for years, and I have on and off had issues since VMware does not officially support Fedora, normally I run a patch after each kernel update and it mostly just works. I am also running the osx unlocker so I can run mac VM's I recently tried virtualbox on a spare laptop, havent looked at virtualbox in years, and I was impressed, a few questions for the community: - can I run the osx unlocker with virtualbox? - does virtualbox have the same issues where it needs a patch after each kernel and sometimes just breaks with a new kernel , even with the patch? MAME anyone?

Hi, It's been some years since I played with MAME, but would like to try again. I've got it installed and the few games from mamedev work, but how do I install/run other ROMs? I've found some that match my current version (0.262), but they still don't work. The procedure I'm following is to download the zip then copy to /usr/share/mame/roms and run name like "mame defender" or "mame milliped". It results in something like this: $ mame milliped 136013-104.mn1 NOT FOUND (tried in milliped) 136013-103.l1 NOT FOUND (tried in milliped) 136013-102.jk1 NOT FOUND (tried in milliped) 136013-101.h1 NOT FOUND (tried in milliped) 136013-107.r5 NOT FOUND (tried in milliped) 136013-106.p5 NOT FOUND (tried in milliped) 136001-213.e7 NOT FOUND (tried in milliped) Fatal error: Required files are missing, the machine cannot be run. However, those are the exact files within the zip file I've downloaded. I'm thinking it's some kind of version compatibility issue, but I 1) don't know how to determine which version the ROM is for and 2) ROMs I've downloaded that claim to be for 0.262 also don't work. Ideas greatly appreciated. Thanks, Alex

I installed from scratch fedora 39. Now I looked in /usr/include and the usual development headers aren't there. glibc-headers and glibc-devel are both installed. No standard C headers are present. Does anyone have any idea what is going on?

ipp-usb not necessary

I previously noted that ipp-usb was constantly running using (not too much) cpu time, but constantly cluttering up the running process list. I finally decided to experiment and just did "dnf erase ipp-usb" which only removed that one rpm, then I rebooted (just to make sure). I no longer have anything using significant cpu when the system should be idle, plus the USB printer (and the scanner) seem to still work fine. In fact, the printer starts up immediately when I send it a page to print instead of delaying for several seconds like it did when ipp-usb was installed. I fail to understand why ipp-usb exists.
