text based browser w/ javascript
by Ryan James
Does anyone know of a text based browser with javascript support? I
have a router that only supports configuration via web and the buttons
are all javascript. I'd like to be able to configure the router without
having to run X.

removing, installing kernel modules without rebooting
by Craig White
playing around with my iPod - I found a site that slightly messed me up.
iPod using firewire...
# lsmod
Module Size Used by
uhci_hcd 35025 0
sbp2 25289 8
sd_mod 20289 1
scsi_mod 146313 2 sbp2,sd_mod
ieee1394 303545 1 sbp2
ohci_hcd 26081 0
ehci_hcd 40013 0
and snipped out everything else since I don't think that they pertain...
unmounted and unplugged iPod (I did have it working previously).
# modprobe -rv sbp2 usb_storage sd_mod ieee1394
FATAL: Module sbp2 is in use.
# mount /dev/sdb2 /mnt/ipod
mount: special device /dev/sdb2 does not exist
That's what I get now. This is after I used the mount and unmount
scripts from this page...

Any way to fix this without rebooting?

Radius servers : off topic
by Rick Lim
Hi there,
Which radius server (open source) would you pick and why?
- Freeradius
- Openradius
- others........
I am looking for one that is easy to maintain and has documentation, I find
Freeradius lacking in docs.
Also any pointers to info on how to use radius with accounting
or backend programs etc.
TIA

I do not know how to do this, but I will read up on
the page for fwbuilder. The network is up again
because I moved the older iptables.save into iptables
and it is up.
I even switched the cables from the machine to see if
it would work and it failed.
Will report back. Thanks Jeff you have been very
helpful.

another off topic post!
by bruce
hi...
i might be getting 5-10 dell/ibm 1u rack servers (poweredge/eservers) but i
wouldn't need them right now, and was think about renting/leasing them for a
few months until i need them for my project.
the boxes range from 2-3GHZ, 512M-1G ram, with different HD. No OS if that
matters.
any thoughts as to what a reasonable/good price would be? (i'm in cali if
that matters)
thanks

Now, I cannot access the local network and the
internet from the machine. The eth0 device was
assigned an IP according to its MAC address and now it
does not work, it says that it is active. When I shut
down the machine it gave me some weird message which I
do not know how to get since I am sending this email
from the other machine which has internet access in my
classroom.
Is there a way to solve this issue?
TIA
Antonio

Are you using LVM? W2k might mistake it for a Windows volume due to the
partition filesystem type. W2k could be performing a sanity check and
whacking out at the presence of the foreign partition. Try partitioning
the second one type ext3 or Reiser to see if that helps.

how smart will wireless be in FC5?
by Jack Howarth
Does anyone know if the following will be possible in FC5? I
am interested in being able to set up a portable Linux box such
that if the ethernet interface is available the internet access
will be used through eth0 otherwise the wireless interface will be used.
Currently in Fedora Core 4, it seems that I am stuck with either
automatically enabling both interfaces at startup or manually
starting one or the other. What I am trying to avoid is having
both interfaces in use if the ethernet interface comes up at startup.
Thanks in advance for any information.

RHN alert notification applet
by Frank Pineau
Any way to turn this useless tool off permanently? It's not listed in
the Gnome session manager, and doing the "Remove Tool From Panel" option
in the applet config just removes it once. Where's it getting loaded?
