FC4 USB opti-mouse goes wild
by Martin, AA6E
I have a Logitech M-BT85 optical USB mouse (with wheel). It works
fine with FC4 [Linux version 2.6.12-1.1447_FC4] most of the time. See
lsusb output below FWIW.
Occasionally, when I'm mousing around doing nothing special, the
cursor takes off like crazy across the screen and lands somewhere at
the edge. Really annoying! My mouse preferences are all set to
middle values.
Have I got a bad mouse, or do we have USB / driver problems? Is it a
known problem? Should I declare a bug?
Thanks for any clues.

Problem with latest Kernel (2.6.12-1.1447_FC4)
by Oldman
The USB section apparently does not look for devices when it first
comes up, at least my 128MB usbkey will not mount until I unplug and
re-plug in the device.
I'll look for a Bugzilla on this, though I know this has happened
periodically on various kernels over the last 6 months

A really clean text editor
by Fajar Priyanto
Hi all,
I run a website at http://linux2.arinet.org. Usually I type the article in a
text editor first, and then copy paste it into the website.
In MS Winblowzland I use Editplus to type the article and when I paste it into
the website, the text runs smoothly according to the format in the website.
Now, I use kate, kwrite, but it seems that when I paste it into the website,
it retains the format from kate/kwrite. For example, the dynamic wrap doesnt
work, so if I have a long sentence, the website will display it as 1 (one)
line instead of wrapping it according to the page width.
When I view the HTML source, it retains the format from kate/kwrite, because
it's said something like "made with Kate"
Seems like a compatibility issue.
Is there anything I can do about it? Is there any a really clean text editor?
Thanks.

FC4 Ready for primt time?
by Joey
Hi,
I have been running FC3 for a long time and really haven't had any issues,
but when setting up FC4 from scratch or upgrading an FC3 to FC4 system I am
running into all kinds of problems and issues.
The firs thing I see is that running basic bash scripts takes forever, and
after rebooting the system performance is overall crawling.
Eventually it seems to finish whatever it is doing and get around to it, but
it's not something I want to run under with these types of issues.
Additionally certain services seem to not run automatically even though they
are set to ( verified with chkconfig ).
I want to upgrade our servers and impliment new servers under FC4, however
if it's not ready for prime time, I will have to continue with FC3.
Can anyone elaborate?
Thanks!

Wireless Network Connection
by R L
I have a real interesting problem. Note this worked great before I had to
reformat/reinstall. I have a Netgear Wireless G PC Card for my laptop. I
have the madwifi driver compiled and installed. I put this in my
/etc/rc.d/rc.local file:
iwconfig ath0 essid Qf734EdTu8W
iwpriv ath0 mode 3
iwconfig ath0 key 684D083EECE11F6DC18D187749
iwconfig ath0 192.168.1.13 <http://192.168.1.13>
255.255.255.0<http://255.255.255.0>
route add default gw 192.168.1.1 <http://192.168.1.1>
However, when I boot into Fedora, it doesn't connect unless I take out the
PC Card, put it back in, and then give it the essid and iwpriv commands
again. It then connects. Anyone have any ideas? I thought perhaps I'm
missing something in my custom kernel (2.6.13) I made. But I have all
modules for PC Card support and such.

Using yum to install all sources
by Reuben D. Budiardja
Hello,
Is there easy way to install the sources for all the packages that I have on
my system? Anyway to use yum for this, or should I donwload the SRPMS iso ?
If I download the SRPMS iso, how do I install the sources ? Should I just
"rpm -ivh *.src.rpm" or something like that ?
One more questions, what's the different between the -devel package
and .src.rpm (ie. srpms) package ?
Thank you for any help

Openoffice - how to omit Serbo-Croat ?
by Timothy Murphy
When I run "yum update" I occasionally get 20 or more
large openoffice rpms to install,
covering virtually every language I have heard of.
Is there any way to restrict the download
to languages I might conceivably understand?
