So - while that might be nice - I very much doubt san diego is going to
fit into the 'affordable' category.

No, you're probably right, but on the other hand it's easier to get
company sponsorship to get to a triple-event like that, than to a
dedicated Fedora infrastructure meeting. Most people who are involved
in FI are working for IT companies, so asking management for some
funds to go to a LinuxCon/Kernel Summit/Linux Plumbers shouldn't be
seen as odd or superfluous.
