Introducing me (Nik Lam, nlam)
by Nikolas Lam
Hi Fedora Infrastructure,
I've been a frequent Fedora user for approximately 3 years have been a
huge fan of free software in general for many more. Up until now though,
I've never contributed anything substantial back, other than acting as
an advocate among those who I know personally.
In July, I relocated from Australia to China (Shanghai) and am hoping to
actively participate in the Fedora Project and focus my efforts in this
region. In August, during her visit, I met with Mel Chua and Xin Zhen
(Fedora Ambassador "lonestar"). Mel suggested that with my background I
might be suitable as a contributor to the infrastructure team.
Some info about my skills:
I've worked as a sysadmin in the tertiary education sector for the past
3.5 years mainly on RHEL systems; prior to that, I worked mainly on
FreeBSD systems for 5 years. I am RHCE certified for RHEL4 and I'm
familiar with a bunch of the enterprise-oriented Red Hat-centric
technologies including RHN satellite, Cluster Suite and the
virtualisation capabilities of RHEL5. Application-wise, I think I've got
a fairly common set of skills, including:
* Apache httpd in conjunction with PHP, Tomcat and Zope-based web apps.
* mail services including exim, postfix, sendmail & dovecot
* (Sun) LDAP directory.
I've never been a big user of IRC, and therefore am quite the n00b, but
I've just registered the nick ni2ke4 on freenode and will be spending
time in the #fedora-admin to get acquainted with members of the team and
the way things work in infrastructure-land.
Cheers,
Nik Lam

joining infra team request
by Kévin Raymond
Hi there,
I really would like to be part of the infra team, in order to help the
website team. I am now a Fedora Project Localization "representative"
on the website team, in order to help concerning l10n. But it appears
that many changes that I would like to do also needs database updates.
To be efficient in my case, (1 L10N task = 1 website commit AND 1
other infra commit/change) we (at least Sijis and me :) ) think that
it could be faster if I could do both.
Therefore, here I am!
I am skilled in
basic website /server administration
bash scripting
C/C++ / php / MySQL / HTML/CSS
started using git
and just started learning python and Java (java is not my own choice,
am still a student ^^)
I am using Linux since a long time ago (ok, I am not that old..) and
as definitely decided to get more involved.
About me and the Fedora Project:
I am a French Fedora Ambassador and an active translator. My goal as a
website team member is to provide a website as more localized as we
can.
I am spending lots of time with the Fedora project (15-20h on average
per week) and like to do so :)
My FAS/wiki/irc username is shaiton
Best Regards,

[PATCH] Update ReviewBoard config
by Stephen Gallagher
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
Because Fedora's FAS auth requires us to make a copy of the
INSTALLED_APPS and MIDDLEWARE_CLASSES in ReviewBoard's
settings_local.py, we need to manually update this list whenever
ReviewBoard adds a new option to its primary settings.py in these tuples.
In this case, they added 'djblets.log' and
'reviewboard.admin.middleware.X509AuthMiddleware'

Change request ( db2 )
by Mike McGrath
I'd like to increase db2's max connections from 500 to 750. We've got
this FAS issue (reboots) which are leaving connections open. They largely
sit idle but stay open until they timeout.
The load on the box is fine even when it hits 500 right now. this is just
to help mask the problem a bit and impact users less, this isn't the
'right fix' so to speak. But it'll help.
Can I get 2 +1's?

Smoogen On Travel: 2010-09-26 -> 2010-10-06
by Stephen John Smoogen
I will be on travel to RDU for a week of RHCE training and a then to
PHX for a couple of days of inventory and set-up of secondary arch
hardware. I will have some internet access during training and more
when in PHX2 but will not be able to attend meetings. For people in
the RDU area... if you see a man in loud Hawaiian shirts wandering
around lost.. it is probably me forgetting that I don't live there
anymore and trying to figure out where I live.

FYI: Discussion group about best practices in deploying Python apps.
We use a lot of Python in production, so presumably this may be of
interest to folks here.
Hope this is helpful

Updates on builders
by Dennis Gilmore
Hey All just wanted to let you all know that due to a security bug in
the kernel over the weekend and this morning i updated all of the
builders and rebooted them. grub on x86-03 got hosed and i rebuilt it.
Due to the sensitive nature of the bug I waited until the builders were
updated to notify the list.
