Finding and downloading missing font
by Jonathan Ryshpan
On my system Firefox doesn't display this Wikipedia page properly,
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Syriac_language , because a Syriac font is
missing. I haven't been able to find out what font is missing or how to
download it. The undisplayed text is "ܠܫܢܐ ܣܘܪܝܝܐ" and appears just to
the left of "Leššānā Suryāyā". Any info would be much appreciated.
The system is Fedora-20 with all updates, running Firefox 32.0. Yumex
informs me that all relevant Syriac and Aramaic fonts are installed.

I am trying to build gphoto2 for an old system (Fedora 11) where I store
photos.
(gphoto2 exists as part of the download in Fedora19)
In any case, I do the configure/make/make install for both libgphto2 and
gphoto2 with no problems, so it would seem that the loader at this point
is seeing the library.
But when I try to execute gphoto2, I get the message
gphoto2: error while loading shared libraries: libgphoto2.so.6: cannot open
shared object file: No such file or directory
the library is in /usr/local/lib, so the directory IS being searched.
I vaguely remember this problem from some years ago, but forget the solution.
Anyone remember how to work around this?

One of my systems stalls at start-up
by Antonio M
When I start one of my systems, sometimes it stalls, even using Esc to see
what is going on, I cannot enter the text mode.If I issue a Ctrl+Alt+Del,
it switches to text mode but it is so fast that I cannot read anything..
Any advice is appreciated (is systemd to be blamed?)

Pagefault during boot (after system was hibernated)
by JD
I decided to shutdown -> Hibernate.
Later on, I powered up and booted the machine,
and it invariably panics with a pagefault.
There is nothing in the logs of any disk hard error issues,
or device misconduct.
Ordinary boot up (without having hibernated) presents no problems at all.
Only reboot after hibernation is the problem I am having.
PS: This is a recent problem after updating to
kernel-3.16.2-200.fc20.x86_64'
I thought I would install the x86 memory test bootable from the grub menu
to see if I am having memory issues.
I cannot find it in the fedora repositories.

Has anyone used this? I will be using it to test the impact of using
randomized local MAC addresses. I would like to have a Gnome widget
that I can just click on and run this.

by Angelo Moreschini
Hi,
I have a wired network with 3 computers (a, b, c)
a - SO Fedora
b - SO Fedora
c - SO Windows 7
The computers a and b have access to a local network (widow workgroup on
nautilus) to see the computer c.
But a and b (the two computers with Fedora) cannot see each the other...
(in short the 2 computer with Fedora con see the computer with Windows 7 -
but they cannot see each the other).
I am newbie with Fedora ..
I would like to know what to do because all the 3 computers can communicate
each the other.
Thank you
Regards

Fedora 20 with AMD catalyst video driver
by Bruno Jean
Hi,
I am planning to build a Fedora 20 machine to host a couple of VMs and a NAS server concurrently. I already browse internet to get some advice on the hardware. As I want to keep the cost low, I plan to use quad core AMD processors with built-in GPU. I would like to have feedback from the fedora guys about the AMD catalyst video driver on Fedora 20. According to various internet blog, it does not work out of the box on Fedora 20, and even the workaround posted here (http://bluehatrecord.wordpress.com/2014/05/10/installing-the-proprietary-...) does not seems to work for everyone.
So my question is the following: Is the default video driver in the fedora 20 allows for a 2560×1440 external monitor resolution with AMD GPU, or I should go with another GPU (Nvidia?) or a motherboard GPU.
Thanks in advance for your support,
Bruno
