Apache 2.4 and mod_proxy problem
by Scott van Looy
Hi,
Before upgrading to Fedora 18, I had IIS in a VM serving pages via Apache and mod_proxy. All was good and lovely. Post and get requests all worked.
I upgraded. Now, post requests above a certain size fail.
ProxyRequests Off
ProxyPreserveHost On
ProxyPass / http://127.0.0.1:8891/ connectiontimeout=5 timeout=30 Keepalive=On
ProxyPassReverse / http://127.0.0.1:8891/
Tried setting:
SetEnv proxy-sendchunked 0
SetEnv proxy-sendcl 1
All that happens is that the proxy server replies with:
Proxy Error
The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server.
The proxy server could not handle the request POST /test.
Reason: Error reading from remote server
and in WindowsLand, the w3wp process that tried to receive the POST request is stuck at 100% CPU and needs killing.
I'm at a complete loss with this. Have any default behaviours changed in mod_proxy? It seems to me that if a complete request is bigger than a packet, it fails, but small requests work fine, possibly?
Making the request direct to IIS works.
And the really frustrating thing is that this all worked with the exact same setup before I upgraded to F18 and I can't find a list of what changed in mod_proxy between 2.2 and 2.4...
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Regards,
Scott

Upgrade FC 16 to FC 17 problems
by George R Goffe
Hi,
I have the following message "The root for the previously installed system was not found".
Due to space issues I have made a few links into a larger partition, these were /tmp and /var/lib/yum/plugins/local. I changed /tmp to be in the root file system and made the link to local a link "../../../../export/home/var-lib-yum-plugins-local/". Now I get the above message.
Can anyone suggest what I should do now please?
Regards,
George...

disable IPv6?
by Tom Horsley
My system at work seems to take a long time to start
the network. I have this suspicion it is waiting for
an IPv6 DHCP server to respond (which won't happen).
Would putting IPV6INIT=no in the ifcfg-em1 file
make this stop trying to use IPv6, or is there some
other way (this is with good old network, not
NetworkManager).

F18: Gnome panel icons w a s t e s p a c e !
by NoSpaze
Hi.
After update to F18, my gnome panel icons (20px) spacings are too wide
(perhaps 1cm, fallback mode).
Googled, tried modifying spacings width gconf-editor, gconftool-2
gtk-widgets.css, ~/.config/gtk-3.0/settings.ini, but no success. They
are still wasting space.
Am I missing something? How can I reduce this space wasting?
Thanks! F18 going well as far...

Battery life improved with F18
by Bill Murray
Thanks guys,
I don't know what you did, but after upgrading my laptop
FC17->FC18 I
saw a 5 hr battery life being quoted - I never saw that long before.
It may be something to do with optimus? My nvidia video card is not
working inF18 as there
is no bumblebee rpm yet, but maybe someone worked out how to switch it
off by default?
(suits me). Anyway, I'm happy!
Bill

Sound gone from yum upgrade from F17->F18
by Ranjan Maitra
Hello,
I did an upgrade using:
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Upgrading_Fedora_using_yum#Fedora_17_-.3E_F...
and it was generally smooth and successful, which generally made me
ecstatic, until the two issues (from what I can tell up to now) came up:
1. Sound is gone. I have looked around all over, but am
unable to figure out what the problem is.
2. SELinux: My SELinux claims it is disabled. Here is what happens when
I try to change it:
$sudo setenforce 1
[sudo] password for:
setenforce: SELinux is disabled
There are a couple of minor issues, but I think these major ones are
most important to me at this point.
Any help/suggestions?
Many thanks and best wishes,
Ranjan

I see that you provide
postgis
postgis-docs
postgis-utils
at http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/buildinfo?buildID=380648
Who provides postgis-jdbc? That needs to be aligned w/ postgis 2.x in
order to use F18, postgresql 9.2.x, etc.
In particular, OpenJUMP (Open Java Map Program - a desktop mapping
application) will not work w/o the postgis-jdbc component.

Sorry, but that isn't what the message says. They have been packaged into
RPMs and placed into a testing repository. The question is which testing
repository, since a standard yum command can't retrieve these RPMs.
This is particularly frustrating, since F18 was released with Postgresql
9.2.x, and PostGIS 1.5.x, the latter not being able to function with the
former.
If you had data and projects running on F17 on Postgresql 9.1.x and
PostGIS 1.5.x, and accepted a default upgrade from F17 to F18, you would
be seriously stuck.
As it is, I have three machines, only one of which that I've migrated to
F18 from F17.
So, I'm not that stuck.
But I would like to know where the testing RPMs are so that my data and
projects are current across the three machines.
