yum
by l00pyl
I think I have messed up my yum.conf and /etc/sysconf/rhn/sources file.
I cut and pasted from many different web sites and now it is all messed up.
Does anyone have good files that work?
I can't get yum install fluxbox to work and think my url's are messed up.
I am from the Mid-West America.
Thanks

Hi Mitch,
Thanks for the response.

Nice command eheh. Here is the result:
$ identify snapshot.jpg
snapshot.jpg JPEG 2036x676+0+0 DirectClass 8-bit 119.5kb 0.000u 0:01
Which seems to render ~11MB. I think my system can handle it...

Well, it exits.. does not hang :)

It is disabled by default in FC2.
What I fail to understand is why it crashes only with mozilla/gecko-based
browsers. It won't with Konqueror..
I still haven't had the time to generate a new unsensitive JPEG. Would
you mind test it, if I get another?

SMP networking problem and 3D (libgl) not working [fedora core2]
by Antonio Chay Hidalgo
Hello List, I have 2 problems:
I have a 2 cpus (pentium III, 800Mhz) machine, 2 ethernets cards and a
voodoo 5500 with fedora core 2. The mobo chipset is via apollo133A. The
network modules in use are: fealnx and 8139too. The machine is updated
with the fedora repositories.
Problem 1:
With the smp kernel (2.6.6-1.435.2.3smp), the network devices report
this errors:
NETDEV WATCHDOG: eth0: transmit timed out
Jul 29 20:37:47 roko kernel: eth0: Transmit timed out, status 0000003c,
resetting...
And the network doesn't work.
With the non-smp kernels (2.6.6-1.435.2.3), the network devices work
properly. This also happens with the original smp kernel.
---
Problem 2:
The 3D is not working, but xorg.conf seems to be properly configured.
The messages are like this:
gd error (glide): grSstSelect: non-existent SST
(and then seg. fault).
Any help would be apreciated.

video config question....
by Gene Heskett
Greetings;
I friend called me last night, mild panic, couldn't startx.
He'd changed the video card, and needed to re-run system-config-video,
but on searching aourFC2 systems, no such beast could be found on
either of our FC2 systems.
For some reason unk to either of us, kudzu didn't catch this on the
boot. Strange.
Where did it go, or what is the video configurator called now?

unable to align partion properly
by javajunkie
Hello,
I guess this error is the XP dual boot bug.
see how to get around it at http://lwn.net/Articles/86835/
The way they advise to avoid it worked fine for me though I still got the error message. W2k booted fine though I never use it and should probably just ax it.
(note -- I posted this as a search of the archives gave nothing when I searched for the error message that I got during the install)

Can I create a DNS list on my computer?
by - - s r b - -
I hope this isn't a stupid question... :-)
Is it possible to create (and maintain) a small DNS listing for websites
that I frequent to enable quicker connecting (I'm on dial-up). And if
so, can I make my computer check this list first, and then the ISP's DNS
if no match is found?
Thanks.

yum install glibc-kernheaders
If you want to compile a kernel specific module you need the
kernel-sourcecode package.

JPEG/JFIF that will cause mozilla hang, kernel lock and sometimes reboot (FC2)
by Nuno Tavares
Hello all,
This i very odd, I haven't seen this for years. I have a JPEG/JFIF that
when opened with Mozilla will lock the whole system, and sometimes will
reboot the system after a little while.
My short investigation led me to conclude that this is a bug both in
kernel (as it reboots) and in Gecko-based browsers - gecko is the
HTML rendering engine used in Mozilla, Firefox, Epiphany and probably
others. This last assumption is due that Konqueror will not crash.
Unfortunely, the JPEG file has some sensitive information, and this hasn't
happened with anyother. No error messages, nothing. I'm looking for ways
to debug this, both firefox and the kernel. How do I do that?
This is the information for the file:
snapshot.jpg: JPEG image data, JFIF standard 1.00, resolution (DPI),
"LEAD Technologies Inc. V1.01", 200 x 200
Moreover, all mentioned browsers are included in the standard FC2, except
for firefox (0.8-3, rpm by Dag Wieers[1]).
Tested with the original FC2 kernel (2.6.5-358) and a with vanilla 2.6.7.
Despite gecko probably having a bug, what does that have to do with the
kernel?
