SuSe and FC 2

well i am still have FC 2 and will continue to use fc2 but use suse for my mp3 collection and use fc2 for learning purposes. i am really stuck in rut on how windows brainwashes your brain. so i am still learning Linux. I would like to eventually not run windows anymore. And i think fc2 is the way to go. but i will use suse until i get more knowledge on linux. any good books out there? i have fedora 4 dummies and a 1000 page book on fedora and red hat. but i need broader knowledge on linux and not individual os's.

I know this question comes and go once in a while in the list, but I was
out for a couple of weeks and want to upgrade my hardware.
Does anybody knows if a yum update would be posible when FC3 final arrives?

"exit" vs. "X-ing" out of a terminal

Hi all,
Some time ago, I posted a question about mysterious users that showed up
when I would do a "who" at the prompt. I have a question related to
that issue. Is there any difference in typing "exit" to stop a terminal
vs. clicking on the "X" in that terminal's window? I wonder if these
extra users are due to my "X-ing" out of a terminal rather than typing
"exit" at the prompt.
Is there any harm done by "X-ing" out of the terminal?
Is there a proper way to retrieve those users remaining from a prior
X-out so that I could "exit" from them? (short of rebooting, I can't
seem to remove the extraneous users.)

Cannot reach single domain

I have a very specific issue. I am running FC 1. I have DSL and was able to get my connection working. The only problem is that I cannot get to any address that ends with the att.net domain. AT&T is my provider for DSL, (Well Covad really). I have the following interface setup:

I have taken down the firewall and it does not matter. I can resolve the IP of the domain but cannot get to the website, get mail. ping or traceroute. I seem to be able to go everywhere else on the net.
Any Ideas?
Is there any other security options besides the Network firewall that could be causing an issue.

Can't get Print Properties in Openoffice

Hi folks,
I'm having some dramas with Openoffice in Fedora Core 2
(openoffice.org-1.1.1-4) and I'm hoping somebody here might have some
suggestions.
The problem is quite simple. If I open the "Print" dialogue in
OpenOffice and then click on Properties button to change printer
settings, nothing happens. The Properties button depresses for a few
seconds and then returns to normal, but no Properties window ever
appears. It's causing me no end of grief as I need to make a change to
the paper size in order to get envelopes to print correctly on my
Samsung ML-1510.
This bug has already been reported here:
http://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=126267
and it has apparently been addressed in Rawhide according to the bug
report. The bug is now closed. However how does that assist us Fedora
Core 2 users? I tried to install the Rawhide Openoffice RPMs but
predictably got a heap of dependency errors. I don't particularly want
to run the development tree of Fedora just to overcome this problem.
Any suggestions as to how I might solve this problem would be greatly
appreciated! Also I'd just like to say a big thanks to the guys and
girls that have put so much work into Fedora. I am running both 1 & 2
on various machines and all in all, it's been a great experience!

gnome email inbox monitor applet

I'm having trouble getting this to work - I have
Mailbox resides on "local mailspool"
Mail spool file - /var/spool/mail/alan
in the preferences
I need it to monitor my Evolution inbox. At the moment it always says
"no mail". Is it possible to make it work?
