Gimp on FC3
by Frank Pineau
Anyone besides me having this problem? Trying to create XPM files in
The Gimp on FC3, when you go to save it, it errors saying "Plug-in could
not save image."
Easily reproduced by creating a new blank image, then saving it as XPM.

Ask your question here and hope for an answer (and most likely you'll get
it). But most important, ignore rude/silly/... answers and do under no
cicumstance try to fight back -- you're just pouring oil into stupid
flames. These people usually just wait for you to run into the trap by
replying, then they *think* they have even more reason to hit back...
And, being on the topic, don't top-post on this list please ;-)
Greetings,
HaJo

Does Fedora include Linux?
by duck04
Hey i just signed up for this cause i wanting to get
into linux based stuff, eventually so i can customize
linux and make my own linux based server. I hear that
RedHat and Fedora are good. So i was wondering does
the Fedora Download include a OS (operating system)
with the download? Such as like Linux?
Also what are the specifications that i would need on
a PC to do this Fedora Project thing?
I'm also looking for some help on this too since i'm
new the Linux stuff. So any help will be greatly
appreciated.

FC3 Stability
by danfreyjavaguy-fedora@yahoo.com
All,
I just recently did a fresh install of FC3, moving
from FC1. Has anyone noticed an issue with stability
of apps? For no apparent reason, firefox,
gnome-terminal, etc. will just die. I have run all
updates. I can't seem to find any log entries for the
apps that suddenly die.
If anyone has any input, it would be greatly
appreciated.

Have been using and recommending WBEL; however, recently updates have
become problematic.
See
http://beau.org/pipermail/whitebox-users/2004-November/004479.html
and resulting thread.
Another possibility, in addition to those I've seen mentioned here, is
Scientific Linux https://www.scientificlinux.org/ - going to check it
out when I get time.

Can't view audio CD
by Tim
Genome won't display the contents of an audio CD. I also can't play any
CD's, the players correctly ID the CD and contents but no sound. I can
use mplayer from the command line to play files from the hard drive, but
not the CD. Is this correct for FC3 for my fstab?

Totem on FC3
by mostafa.afgani@world.iu-bremen.de
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
Dear all,
I am aware of the fact the totem shipped with FC3 uses Gstreamer instead
of xine .. now, has anyone had any success using it? It's pretty useless
by itself since it can't even handle MPEG files .. so I got some plugins
from:
http://mpeters.us/linux/fc3_gstreamer.php
with these plugins in place totem just keeps segfaulting..
so, I'm just wondering .. anyone with any better luck/ideas?
(I tried the totem-xine from freshrpms and that works like a charm ..
just wanted to give Gstreamer a try..)
Best,
M
