Persistent problems with new FC3 install
by Garry Turkington
Hmm, previous post seems to have disappeared into the ether, apologies if
it ever surfaces...
Hi,
I installed FC3 on a new machine with relatively little problems. I did
need to add NOPROBE to the install boot prompt and manually add hardware
but otherwise all was well.
On reboot though things freeze after:
Initializing hardware... storage network audio
Looking at the list archives I see references to issues with rhgb, udev
and video mode. So I've tried:
1. Removing 'rhgb quiet' from the kernel command line
2. Forcing a boot into run level 3, both by adding '3' to the command line
but also by changing inittab after doing a rescue boot to get at the
filesystem
3. Verified udev_logging=no is set in /etc/udev/udev.conf
4. Just for kicks I did a rescue boot from the DVD, chroot'ed into the
environment and ran up2date. This pulled down a host of updated packages
including a new rhgb, udev and kernel.
None of this has worked and I'm at a bit of a loss. The machine is a dual
boot with WinXP which works fine. I also just tried the new SuSE Live CD
which boots happily and sees all the hardware.
Machine is:
MSI K8N Nforce3 250gb socket 754 mobo
Athlon64 3400+
512Mb Crucial PC3200 RAM in 1 stick
Asus FX5700 128Mb graphics card
200Gb WD SATA drive
IDE DVD burner
Any pointers much appreciated.

RH9 Support
by Lotsa Cabo
If I were to install RH9, what support would exist? Is there any way to
CONVENIENTLY update the default packages? How 'bout the kernel? I guess
up2date is out of the question?
Thanx,
Ryan

Intel anypoint wireless card
by Jamie Bohr
I have installed FC3 on a laptop that has an Intel AnyPoint wireless
card in it. The card was seen during the install however after the
install the computer said is was removed. I suspect that modules.conf
is missing the module for. Does any one know what that is? I have
searched goolge and have come up empty. Please help.
Also does any one know what pci wireless card is supported natively in
FC3? I don't want to have to recompile some module every time I
update the kernel, I just want something that is supported without a
lot of work. I am looking for something I can buy and Best Buy or
Comp USA.
Thank you,
Jamie

How to configure CUPS
by VJ
Hi,
May be I am half brain-dead and I cannot figure out where to start. In FC2, I remember it used be called cupsd-conf or something line that. How do I configure cups in FC3? I am trying to use cups-pdf but cannot add a new printer until I can configure cups. I am using gnome.

Mail can be received properly, but sending hangs.

I can try this, but it will take a while. I took the steps of removing
Evolution, removing my user and all owned files, and recreating the whole
shebang. No joy. At the moment, Evolution isn't installed.
A separate post suggests that there's a bug with password handling. I want
to try to follow up on that (thanks!). But it will take me a while to get
to this. I'll post again if I get anywhere.

No Xine Audio after FC2 --> FC3 update
by Steve Fink
Everyone,
I completed an upgrade of FC2 to FC3 and now I don't have any audio on
Xine. I've double checked all of Xine's settings and they're all still
correct as far as I can tell.
Anyone have any ideas what could have changed?
Thanks in advance,
Steve
