'flac' and 'alsa-lib' are from FC, not Fedora.us.

That is a side-effect of repository-mixing. Some of the other
repositories do upgrade or modify 'alsa-lib' and 'flac', Fedora.us
doesn't.

Your theory is void.

Can Upgrade FC2 -> FC3 While Live?
by Fred Whipple
Hi,
I'm wondering if it's possible to just upgrade directly from FC2 to
FC3 with, for example, up2date rather than booting from special
installation media. Obviously I'm not saying while a server is
completely open and live, but while the machine is still booted such
that the only reboot is to boot into the new OS.
For the multi-distribution savvy, what I'm asking is if you can
upgrade the OS the same way you can with Debian :-)
TIA,

RE: Where is the FC3 kernel Source?
by Shaffer Paul
You know Bob, some people have real jobs and lives. They may not be
zealots devoted to the Fedora religion. So they complain when things
change unexpectedly. Why is that so hard for you to understand? This
is not even worth discussing unless you have too much time on your
hands. Please, let's just get back to Fedora...

I seem to have seen a few other posts from people who were lashing out
because they claimed they were on really mission critical projects and
list members weren't being nice and touchy feely and falling all over
themselves to be helpful with them. This post seems yet another of that
genre.

Install other Apps - HOW TO
by Terry R. Grier
Hello.
I have installed my first linux. Fedora3.
I want to use Thunderbird / and other programs.
I have read the manuals on redhat
Installation guide
Getting Started
and
Customize
And I cannot find a section that discusses how to install programs.
>From Mozilla it says that there is not install. you just download and "run" TB.
Couple of questions.
Where do I put programs? In the Home? or another dir? Opt?
I downloaded the Gzip and then extracted it in my home.
Then I went to ACTIONS and RUN "thunderbird"
nothing happened.
Please Advise ...
Respectfully,
T
