Not able to create folder in a USB disk
by William Lovaton
Hi,
I mounted a USB disk and I can browse it and work with it as expected
but when I am trying to create a folder from nautilus it is not posible,
it says something like "Error <<Invalud parameteres>> creating the new
folder" or something like that (I use a spanish transaltion).
I can create the folder in a terminal, even I can create it with the
file chooser but not with nautilus, not even accessing it directly
through /media/usbdisk.
Any ideas about this bug??

I don't know of a Mac OS X theme. But I have a desktop background that is like
OS X. It's called AquaBlue.jpg. You can google for OS X backgrounds or maybe
AquaBlue.jpg.

The most important to me to run is a freeware program called The Second
Step. It is a character generator for an online game that I run. It is
the only thing that is stopping me giving Winblows the final heave ho...

FC1->FC3: USB mouse + mousewheel no longer working
by Gerrit
Hello,
this morning, I upgraded from Fedora Core 1 to Fedora Core 3.
My mouse is no longer working.
I have a Microsoft 2-button USB Wheel mouse. With 'system-config-mouse',
I selected "Generic - Wheel Mouse (USB)". /etc/sysconfig/mouse reads:
FULLNAME="Generic - Wheel Mouse (USB)"
MOUSETYPE="imps2"
XEMU3="no"
XMOUSETYPE="IMPS/2"
DEVICE=/dev/input/mice
On FC1, it was the same, except for DEVICE=/dev/psaux.
The relevant part of /etc/X11/xorg.conf reads:
Section "ServerLayout"
Identifier "Default Layout"
Screen 0 "Screen0" 0 0
InputDevice "Mouse0" "CorePointer"
InputDevice "Keyboard0" "CoreKeyboard"
InputDevice "DevInputMice" "AlwaysCore"
EndSection
Section "Files"
(...)
Section "InputDevice"
Identifier "Mouse0"
Driver "mouse"
Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2"
Option "Device" "/dev/psaux"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
Option "Emulate3Buttons" "no"
EndSection
Section "InputDevice"
# If the normal CorePointer mouse is not a USB mouse then
# this input device can be used in AlwaysCore mode to let you
# also use USB mice at the same time.
Identifier "DevInputMice"
Driver "mouse"
Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2"
Option "Device" "/dev/input/mice"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
Option "Emulate3Buttons" "no"
EndSection
(...)
In FC1's XF86config, this is exactly the same.
The relevant lines of /var/log/messages on boot are:
Nov 29 16:30:28 topjaklont kernel: mice: PS/2 mouse device common for all mice
Nov 29 16:30:28 topjaklont kernel: input: ImPS/2 Generic Wheel Mouse on isa0060/serio1
I tried several different configurations. None of them worked. I can
start X, I see a mouse cursor, but moving the mouse does not move the
mouse cursor.
Any hints? With XFree86 on FC1, it worked fine. It doesn't now :-(
regards,
Gerrit Holl.
P.S.
I am running the same kernel configuration, only recompiled.

I don't know that it may be proper but you can change the permissions in:
/etc/udev/permissions.d/50-udev.permissions
Look for sg in scsi area.

Yes, I did miss the point a little and THAT is the point.

Ok I get it now. But coming to Fedora and reading the link above, how
would anyone know that there are other combinations or alternatives to
fedora.us?
I would expect that this concept be part of the documentation. Maybe
you all are so used to how repositories work that these notions are
second nature already but for some (perhaps many) of us -- to not inform
us on the fedora pages of the alternatives is a disservice to the
community.
If fedora.us does not want to work with ATRPMS for whatever reason, I am
not the one to quibble with them. Still, the Fedora docs are lacking in
terms of an explanation about other solutions.
As it is now, the documentation at
http://fedora.redhat.com/docs/updates/ is sadly in need of being updated
to reflect the realities of what is going on. Why can't the fedora.us
people at the very least acknowledge the other repositories so we users
can get a better picture of what our options for obtaining the packages
we need really are.
This original post started with a flame on the behavior of fedora.us and
now I understand why. The seem a little strong armed in their approach
and losing sight of the big picture (increased linux adoption).

Thanks for the info. I needed it.

It appears to have been dropped.
Whats up with that. It was the only decent application for
