BeamConstruct controlling a laser with RS-232
by Kevin Criqui
I'm working with a marking machine that has a Spectra Physics
T20-BL10-106Q laser and a Scanlab RTC4 controlling a Scanlab scanhead.
Everything is working pretty well, though I still have lots to learn.
One thing I'd like to do that I haven't figured out yet is to issue a
command to the laser over the PC's serial port at the beginning and end
of each marking job. Specifically, I want to send the command to put
the laser in run mode at the beginning and standby mode at the end. Is
there any way to do this?

RTC setup question
by Banasek, Jacob Thomas
I just found this software and trying to connect on the BeamConstruct software to an RTC 3 card. I think I have it set up to the correct files (and have tried many different things), but am continually getting "cannot allocate required resources" as an error whenever I try to run a pattern. I think it is connection to the software problem as this card does work with a different program that was being used). I was wondering if anyone had any tips, tricks, or suggestion on how to get this to work.
thanks for your time and help

Modbus
by Albert Serrero
Hi, I just set up OpenAPC and was running a test project with some success. I have a low cost modbus controller connected to my Windows 7 PC via serial USB. Most software platforms that support modbus allow some modification of the type of data that is expected back from the modbus device: floating point vs 16 bit integer at a minimum. My device only supports 16 bit integer as many low cost modbus devices do.
Is there a way to specify or adjust for this with the Modbus control?
Thanks in advance.
