I just found this software and trying to connect on the BeamConstruct software to an RTC 3 card. I think I have it set up to the correct files (and have tried many different things), but am continually getting "cannot allocate required resources" as an error whenever I try to run a pattern. I think it is connection to the software problem as this card does work with a different program that was being used). I was wondering if anyone had any tips, tricks, or suggestion on how to get this to work.
thanks for your time and help

Thanks for the respones. I gave it a try but was not able to have any luck. To give you some more details I am trying to run this system with a continues wave YAG laser. I have the correction file set to the one you just gave me and the firmware pointing to the RTC3D2.hex file in RTC files folder form the drives download from the Scanlab site. I also have updated the firmware to make sure it is up to date. The error I get almost right after hiting the mark button is "ScanLAB(R) RTC: Could not allocate required resources!"
Thanks again for the help Jacob ________________________________________ From: openapc-bounces@lists.fedorahosted.org [openapc-bounces@lists.fedorahosted.org] on behalf of Miguel [miguel67@gmx.de] Sent: Tuesday, July 31, 2012 3:41 PM To: openapc@lists.fedorahosted.org Subject: Re: RTC setup question

Jacob,
are we talking about Windows or Linux?
For Windows: you have to copy the RTC-DLL to Windows/System32 and need to configure the path to correction file and .hex firmware file within scanner card settings.
For Linux it is similar: the RTC-library needs to be copied to /usr/lib and correction and firmware file have to be configured.
In both cases please ensure to use the .hex file that fits to your hardware (e.g. the 3D-hex-file will not work on cards that do not have 3D option).
Kind regards
Jim

I just joined the list and was having the same problem with an RTC4 card. I think it was caused by the program not having read permission for the correction and firmware files. I put copies in the OpenAPC directory (which required administrator access on Win 7) and now everything is working fine. I also put a copy of the rtcdll.dll file there just for good measure though I don't know if that was necessary.

Kevin,
you are right, there are some sticking points in RTC installation. With Windows Vista/7/8 there is that strange read/write privilege problem. When you're using a 64 bit variant there are several places for putting the RTC-DLL (Windows\System32 and Windows\SysWOW64) - but not all of them work. So your solution to put it into BeamConstructs working directory is a good one.
Unfortunately we can't/will not put the RTC-DLL into our setup for proper installation since this is part of the RTC driver package and users have to be free in their decision which version to use.
Kind regards
Jim
