How to configure a Dual monitor?
by Diego Ruiz-Hernandez
Hello.
I've been trying to configure my Fedora 5 distribution (installed in a
Toshiba LapTop) for using two different monitors at the same time (the
LapTop and a flat screen one) but there seems to be something wrong.
Please, can anyone help me with this?
Thanks,

I really have no idea how to narrow the problem any further.
Only things I can came up with is to install Rawhide live cd on my
laptop and then try to suspend and resume. And then update it with new
kernel and try again...
I can also wait for the official Fedora 7 and fedora 7 live cd and
then try it out...
Any other suggestions?
Valent.

suspend/resume madness with Fedora 7 test 4 on HP Compaq nx7300
by Valent Turkovic
I got suspend to work! But I only got it working with Rawhide Live CD 20050517 !
If you wish you can see the track of this epochal endeavor her:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=240964
Rawhide Live CD 20050517 uses kernel 2.6.21-1.3163 and suspend/resume
work flawlessly with these quirks:
rmmod iwl3945
pm-suspend --quirk-vbe-post --quirk-vbemode-restore
I suspected my fedora 7 test 4 was the problem when I managed to get
suspend/resume working on a few laptops with not too much trouble with
rawhide live cd. I guess that kernel is to blame or my installation
got tainted in some way. So I decided that my laptop also deserves
sterile test environment.
So to conclude:
- rmmod iwl3945 (if you don't remove this module first there is no way
to suspend/resume your system)
- don't test with Fedora 7 test 4 installed on your hdd
- instead use Fedora 7 live CD for suspend/resume troubleshooting
- live cd is much easier on the hardware because freezing a running
system with mounted partitions can potentially cause data loss and
errors on your partitions
- disable Virtualisation in bios if you have it
- quirks page is not that bad as I bashed it in the beginning, sorry Richard :)
this got my system to suspend/resume - but still installed version
doesn't resume from suspend. I'll wait for official Fedora 7 and try
it again.
Ritchard should I send these quirks for nx7300 even if it works only
under live cd environment?
here is lshal listing for my laptop:
$ lshal |grep system.hardware
system.hardware.product = 'HP Compaq nx7300 (RU374ES#AKN)' (string)
system.hardware.serial = 'CNU65015JF' (string)
system.hardware.uuid = '07F8BA4E-97D7-DD11-2580-6D990C593D29' (string)
system.hardware.vendor = 'Hewlett-Packard' (string)
system.hardware.version = 'F.0B' (string)

IBM ThinkPad R52 Quirk submission
by Valent Turkovic
I have tested Fedora 7 Live CD and make IBM R52 work with a quirk and
I would like submit my findings so that IBM R52 JustWorks for other
people in Fedora 7.
I managed to suspend and resume 5 times from X and 2 times from
console1 (ctrl-alt-f1) with this quirk:
pm-suspend --quirk-s3-bios
the info I collected from lshal is:
system.hardware.vendor = 'IBM'
system.hardware.version = 'ThinkPad R52'
please include this laptop as soon as possible so that Fedora 7
JustWorks with it when it ships.
Thank you.

willing to contribute - so laptops suspend better - but how?
by Valent Turkovic
Hi,
can you please look at the issue I'm having.
I would like to help troubleshoot my laptop and then other 10 I have
access to but I can't find how to do that.
Is there any wiki page or some other resource that I can use? Or can
you look at this one and give me some specific pointers?
I posted a bug for fedora 7 but I can't suspend this laptop also with
Fedora Core 6 or Ubuntu Feisty - it can only suspend and resume under
OpenSuse when I use additional options for s2ram as I wrote in my bug
report - please read it and add your precious knowledge about this
subject.
the link for the bug is:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=240964
Thank you very much in advance.
Valent from Croatia.
