Compaq F572US Locks Up with FC7
by Jim Duda
I have a Compaq F572US, with AMD Athlon Turin X86 with nvidia graphics
adapter. I really like the laptop, however, it occasionally hits a hard
lock up and I have to reset and reboot. The computer runs really slow
with Windows Vista, but works fine with Fedora :-)
I'm not sure how to tell if this is a software configuration problem or
I have purchased a lemon.
I'm running latest Fedora FC7 Moonshine, up-to-date.
My kernel boot options are noapic irqpoll noapci
Can anyone share experiences with Compaq F572US laptop computers?
Thanks,
Jim

by Dimitris M.
Hello, I have no sound and the mute/unmute button on my HP dv6541ev remaing orange (muted).By pressing it i can see the onscreen sound display mute and unmute, but the button remains orange at all times.
Now,when I start a song/movie it opens up the corresponding player
normally and i can see the equalizer going up and down which means the
song/movie is playing.
However i can hear no sound from either the speakers or headphones.

Re: wireless
by sheltraw@berkeley.edu
Hi Jay
Thanks for the response. It does not have to be USB but I would prefer
it to be USB. I found this wireless linux site:
http://linuxwireless.org/en/users/Devices/USB
which lists a number of USB wireless devices as being supported. Is this
not the case? Am I reading the list incorrectly?
Maybe the USB support is something new to the 2.6.23 kernel. The home
page for linuxwireless has the following news blurb dated Oct 10, 2007:
"Linux 2.6.23 was released today. On the wireless front, a variety of
fixes and improvements were contributed all over the place. The biggest
news items are the inclusion of the rtl8187 driver, which supports USB
devices based on the RTL8187 chipset, and zd1211rw enhancements to
support devices based on the Atheros AR5007UG USB chipset."
Which PCMCIA wireless adapter would you recommend?
Thanks Marv

Gnome Pilot Doesn't Seem To Work With Palm Treo 680
by Jeffrey D. Yuille
Hello,
I had recently install Fedora 8t3 on my IBM ThinkPad T-30.
Everything seemed to work fine except for being able to sync my Palm
Treo 680. When starting the Gnome Pilot wizard, it couldn't find my
device. This problem seems to be the same as it is in Fedora 7. Will
this program be able to work with the Palm Treo and will it be able to
allow you to sync consistently out of the box with Fedora 8t3? I have
previously filed bugs in Bugzilla but it seems that no one is working on
this.
