It could have been fixed if it wasn't called unconditionally:

Unfortunately, now that the damage has been done, some manual
intervention is likely necessary, since you can't uninstall, so the
upgrade will fail. Or, you could install with `rpm --noscripts' (unless
this only applied to the current package).
