Preupgrade F14-->F15
by Benjamin
Hello everyone!
I encountered the following problem when trying to upgrade my system:
After preupgrade has downloaded all the packages and the system has
shutdown to establish the new system, while the installation process
there came the failure:
Too less space on / (or something similar)
So a checked my system: fdisk -l:
[root@Banjo Benji]# fdisk -l

So i guess that my /boot partition is too small to perform the
preupgrade, which is a problem a can´t solve alone. I need your help.
Thx. Benjamin.

bash command not found
by Tanguy Eric
In fedora14 in cli if i try an unknown command the system tried to find
the package containing this command.
This seems to not work in f15.
# telnet
bash: telnet: command not found...
and that's all. The system does not propose to install telnet client
package.
Is this normal ?
Thanks

which PW, it doesn't give me the opportunity to enter one I look at seahorse and
there is nothing.
Is this a new feature on F15 that was implemented through an update?
Because initially was working like in the previous release it never
asked for keyring PW, this is the first time that I am having problem.
I do not need the password for email how can I eliminate it.

fedora 15 - can't get 120Hz refresh rate with nouveau driver
by pierre lesage [free]
hello everyone,
i must miss something easy here...
fresh fedora 15 install: i can't get my monitor to switch to 120 Hz (it
did with fedora 14 though).
the gnome "Displays" app (system settings) doesn't display any refresh
rate.
i tried some xrandr commands without success...
gtf 1920 1080 120.0
gives the corresponding modeline
xrandr --newmode "1920x1080_120.00" 368.76 1920 2072 2288 2656 1080
1081 1084 1157 -HSync +Vsync
xrandr --addmode DVI-D-1 1920x1080_120.00
screen goes grey for half a second and returns to normal ; now there is
a * next to the new mode
xrandr --output DVI-D-1 --mode 1920x1080_120.00
doesn't switch to 120Hz ; OSD effectively reports the refresh rate is
still 60Hz
the hardware is a lenovo t61p with docking station using dvi output.
video card: nvidia quadro 570M.
monitor: viewsonic v3d 241 wm led 120 hz.
thanks for this very nice linux distribution by the way ! have a
great day !

SELinux Twitter Issue in Fedora with Chrome & Chromium
by Manuel Escudero
Hi, I'm having a wierd issue with Google Chrome and Twitter in Fedora 15,
the thing is, Twitter Won't load in Chrome 11 or Chromium 12 inside of
Fedora
15 Lovelock, I tracked all the possible issues and then I got my Answer: The
"guilty man" here was SELinux. Disabling SELinux temporally solved the
problem
but I don't want to disable it forever, so I was wondering if there was some
workaround
for this.
Doing some more digging, I discovered that Twitter needs permission to use a
HTML5
Storage Feature, (Midori Told me) So I tried a webpage with HTML 5 examples
and
the result was as expected: Chrome crashed while rendering a Storage
example.
After disabling SELinux temporally the example works great.
So, Any Ideas?

Bingo! Strange though. The man page for mount.ntfs has no mention of that option.

Unable to microphone
by JD
On F14.
Pulseaudio daemion is running.
I can hear media playing.
But I am unable to use microphone.
i,e. no matter what app I use the mic
with, (as in skype, or gnome-sound-recorder
or aurecord), my mic does not pick up my voice.
I have a built-in and an external. Neither one
is picking my voice.
gnome-volume-control-applet shows me that
I can select mic1 or mic2 as input.
Neither one is working.
I wonder if this is a pulseaudio issue?

Thunderbird/Firefox in F-15 -
by Bob Goodwin
When I click on a URL in an Thunderbird e-mail it comes up in
Firefox as desired but Firefox jumps into my e-mail window, I
don't want that. I assign Firefox a window and I want it to stay
there where I will view the information when I am ready.
It worked as I want in F-14.
Also in F-14, when I closed Firefox it asks if I wanted to save
the current set of tabs being displayed. I usually wanted that,
in F-15 I don't get that option, when I reboot in the morning I
have to set it up to view the routine stuff I normally keep
available there, mainly my system usage information which DD-WRT
displays in graphic form, etc.
I've searched the Preference menus and compared the two
computers and they are essentially set up the same but act
differently. I assume these things can be configured if one
knows where to look?
Any help appreciated.
Bob

What did I do wrong?
by david grant
I know its frowned upon to complain about not getting responses on
forums but I am mystified that I didn't get a single response to my post
below. I have a degree of visual impairment but I cannot believe that I
am the only potential user of Gnome 3 who would like an answer.
So I resorted to classical marketing techniques to get this post read by
a few people and I will get responses, some of which may be kind I only
want a yes or no answer!!
F15, Gnome 3 and Mouse Pointer Size
Is there a way of increasing the pointer size, an option that is in
Gnome2? I have googled away but cannot find any reference to such an
option. Either I have missed something simple or the option has been
removed.
