LibreOffice and Evolution will not print
by Lawrence E Graves
I am still laboring over the fact that LibreOffice and Evolution and
gedit will not allow me to print. If it was just one of them I would not
be as concern because I believe it would be fixed eventually. When
important places of use are not performing that's a problem. Still
patiently waiting for a answer or better a solution.

I don't know. This notion has been around for a version or two, and I don't remember the technicalities. Maybe someone else can fill them in. In any case I'm waiting 'til the general complaint level has died down a bit more and some packages I use catch up.

GNOME Audio Profiles missing
by Julian C. Dunn
Hi all,
I'm on Fedora 15 and trying to rip a CD using CD Extractor (Sound
Juicer). Somewhere along the way, my default audio profiles have
gotten hosed (see attached screenshot).
How do I restore the out-of-the-box default profiles?

SELinux is preventing /usr/libexec/colord from getattr access on the file /usr/local/Brother/sane/models3/ext4.ini.
by Lawrence E Graves
SELinux is preventing /usr/libexec/colord from getattr access on the file /usr/local/Brother/sane/models3/ext4.ini.
***** Plugin catchall (100. confidence) suggests ***************************
If you believe that colord should be allowed getattr access on the ext4.ini file by default.
Then you should report this as a bug.
You can generate a local policy module to allow this access.
Do
allow this access for now by executing:
# grep colord /var/log/audit/audit.log | audit2allow -M mypol
# semodule -i mypol.pp

CJK Extension B Chinese fonts for Firefox
by Piscium
The link below [1] points to a page that tests the display of Chinese
characters.
With Firefox on Fedora 14 I can display correctly Traditional Chinese,
Simplified Chinese, and CJK Extension A characters, however of the 4
CJK Extension B characters only one is displayed correctly. The
character encoding is set as Unicode UTF-8 (I have not changed this).
Does anybody know how I can fix this? I do have the "Chinese Support"
group installed (I think it is installed by default).

Try a wired connection if you haven't already, and ignore warnings.

KDE Laggy in Fresh F15
by Kevin H. Hobbs
I just did a fresh install of Fedora 15 x86_64 with KDE.
KDE is mostly unusable in Fedora 15 while it was fine in Fedora
14 (with nvidia driver).
The display seems to freeze for a few seconds every few seconds.
Menus take seconds to open.
Windows leave garbage on the display when they are moved or re-sized.
New windows are often filled with garbage before they are drawn
all the way.
KDE automatically disables the desktop effects.
I installed and switched to fluxbox and everything is snappy.
Without all of the KDE decoration firefox went from unusable to
normal under fluxbox.
I have not installed any software not in Fedora's repository (no
nvidia drivers).
System details that might be usefull:
lenovo S10
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz
4 GB of DDR3 1067 MHz RAM
nVidia Corporation G86 [Quadro NVS 290]
nouveau driver is loaded and in /etc/X11/xorg.conf
Screen spans two 1600x1200 CRTs

Why is systemd trying to start NetworkManager?
by Tom Horsley
I have disabled NetworkManager and enabled network, yet I still
find these messages in my logs from time to time:
Jun 6 05:31:21 zooty dbus-daemon: [system] Activation via systemd failed for unit 'dbus-org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.service': Unit dbus-org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.service failed to load: No such file or directory. See system logs and 'systemctl status' for details.
At least it is failing to start it, but why is it even trying?
systemctl status NetworkManager.service
NetworkManager.service - Network Manager
Loaded: loaded (/lib/systemd/system/NetworkManager.service)
Active: inactive (dead)
CGroup: name=systemd:/system/NetworkManager.service
I also have no idea why it says "loaded", I wouldn't think a
disabled service would get loaded.

F15: LXDE install, OpenBox not running
by Niels Weber
I installed the LXDE spin of Fedora 15 via a live usb stick on my Acer Netbook.
The install went through without errors but when starting up LXDE, the
Openbox window manager isn't running.
Starting it by hand works though I'm not sure how to correctly set it
up that it starts up every time. Any hints?
Thanks,
Niels
