Save video stream?
by Bob Goodwin
I have some video cameras, so called internet cameras actually. I
have one looking out at a horse pasture and would like to be able to
save a video clip.
Google brings up schemes for saving YouTube, etc., videos from /tmp
but I don't see any such files being created by these cameras.
I simply address them with a browser at 192.168.1.52 for instance,
actually using the command/URL http://cam2/mjpg/video.mjpg, usually
with Opera because it seems to work "better" but Firefox does
provide a usable image too.
How can I save a short clip to a file, preferably using software
provided with F-13?

Impossible to find folder which contains kernel headers
by Brett
Hi,
I am trying to get vmware player running on Fedora 13, and during the setup vmware player is unable to locate the kernel headers (PAE). I have used the "search for files" function to find the location of the kernel headers (including "show hiddden & backup files") yet the are nowhere to be found. Yet Gnome Package Mngr says they are installed. Could someone tell me the location so I can tell the vmware player wizard? Please no redirection to shell scripts that do not work, just the location :-)
I know Fedora is designed with security in mind, but does not secure/hidden/obscured to the point of unusable defeat the purpose?
Brett.

Must tracker-search-tool really depend on Evolution?
by Andre Costa
Hi,
I don't use evolution as my MUA so I would like to remove it from my F13
installation. However, when I try to do this yum says it would remove
tracker-search-tool as well beacuse of libeutil.so.0:
~ sudo yum remove evolution
Loaded plugins: presto, refresh-packagekit

Couldn't this lib be packaged separately so that it wouldn't be necessary to
install a 37M app because of a 330K lib needed by a 300K app?

P.S. Sorry if my reply was not relevant; what I forgot to mention was that dwhelper is a FireFox plugin.

Re: Fedora 13 live-cd doesn't boot on HP 6930p
by Brett
At what speeds?
At lowest speed and normal speed, same problem, fedora 13 would not boot (same problem with DVD and live CD).
I have burned many other distros with the same softwares in the past, including Fedora 12, Ubuntu, Lime, Debian, Slackware, and never had one fail to boot till Fedora 13. Was starting to think my burner was dying till it worked burning via Windows...

Wireless problem in Fedora13
by Thomas Taylor
Hi all;
Recently installed Fedora13 and am working through problems. I've managed to
solve most by lots of reading documentation and googling but am being frustated
with wireless not working in KDE. It's working fine in Gnome but I prefer KDE.
I've tried both using NetworkManager and traditional (ifup) methods but can't
get associated with my wireless router except in Gnome. The router (Linksys
WRT54G) is set to not broadcast ESSID. I can see it with iwlist wlan0 scan but
only Gnome will associate with it.
It's my understanding that both Gnome and KDE use NetworkManager but with
different GUIs. If that is so, why won't both associate?
Any comments or suggestions gladly accepted.
Thanks, Tom

Fedora 12/13 unexpected shut down Please help !!!
by Onkar Mahajan
I am doing kernel compilation on fedora 13
like this
$ make -j2 bzImage modules
Strangely, FC12 & FC13 running on AMD x86_64 machine
happen to halts uncleanly (as if power goes off ) in the midst
of compilation process.
I have been using this machine for compilation for over 2 years on
other distros such as debain, Suse, but such problem has never occured.
Is anybody familiar of such thing happening in FC12/13 distros.
any configuration missing ??
or bug ?
Regards,
Onkar
PS :
on i386 machine - FC13 performs normally. but FC12 exhibits
this kind of problematic behavior.
