Cannot run gcc on Fedora 13
by Barton Landrum
I looked for the gcc binaries and I could not find them.
I am trying to build the gcc C, C++ and other compilers using release 4.4.3
of the gcc code. To do this I still need a gcc binary to compile and link
the code.
I ran the following command:
../gcc-4.4.3/configure
And got this:
checking build system type... i686-pc-linux-gnu
checking host system type... i686-pc-linux-gnu
checking target system type... i686-pc-linux-gnu
checking for a BSD-compatible install... /usr/bin/install -c
checking whether ln works... yes
checking whether ln -s works... yes
checking for gcc... no
checking for cc... no
checking for cc... no
checking for cl... no
configure: error: in `/gcc4/objdir':
configure: error: no acceptable C compiler found in $PATH
See `config.log' for more details.
Thanks in advance,

Since these are network printers it seems the problem is probably
associated with network connectivity. Can you telnet to the printer at
port 631? I assume you set up the printing on the two printers
separately or is a print server involved? Trying to delete the printer
from the F13 machine and reconfiguring it would be worth trying. Is
other printing from the F13 machine proceeding normally or is it also
slow?

Bogged down in Wine
by Beartooth
I got overtired and careless, and tried to do something about the
workspace switcher on the wrong F13 machine (one where it was working
fine).
Now the boot messages stop at "Registering binary handler for
Windows applications," and the machine seems never to finish booting --
except that I can ssh into it over my LAN.
What do I need to do??

Flash videos not playing in Fedora 11 firefox browser
by ranjan sundar
Hello all,
I tried to download flashplayer for linux from adobe website and downloaded
this zip file. i extracted it and found that it contained only 1 file with
.so extension (shared object).
initially i read some forum posts where they told me to copy this file to
some plugins directory. i did paste this file into the mentioned
folders. But none of these steps worked. im still unable to find a step by
step approach to get flash vidoes working properly in browsers on linux. Are
there actually any step by step approach ???
ive exhausted all my energy to get flash videos get working in my
firefox/opera browser in my Fedora 11 linux.
Any help is really appreciated !!!

trembling laptop screen with f13
by Alexander Volovics
Hello,
I installed Fed 13 on a laptop with Intel Core I5-430M CPU and integrated
Intel HD graphics Media Accelerator.
Everything works perfectly except for a 'trembling' (vibrating?) screen.
It seems to be slightly more pronounced when running on battery.
This is irritating and tiring after a couple of hours.
Anybody else experience this on laptops with Intel Core I3/I5/I7 CPU's
using Intel HD graphics. Could it be the Intel driver?
If I am the only one seeing this should I report it as a bug?

Fedora 12 not releasing ports
by Jack Lauman
I have Fedora 12 and Tomcat 6.0.28 running a CRM application called DeskNow.
When I start tomcat I get an error the port 110 is in use. Dovecot is
not enabled, netstat doesn't show port 110 in use.
If I run "portrelease" on ports POP3, SMTP & 3306 manually prior Tomcat
startup and DeskNow runs normally.
Is there a way to open these three ports without manually running
"portrelease"? I need to have Tomcat & DeskNow start automatically.
Thanks,
Jack
