encfs unmounting with open fd
by David L
I just started playing around with encfs and noticed
some behaviour that surprised me... not sure if
it's a bug or a bad design or if I have unreasonable
expectations. But if I mount a directory like this:
encfs ~/.crypt ~/crypt
Then start editing a file in ~/crypt... eg:
emacs ~/crypt/foo &
Then if I try to unmount the crypt directory, I'd
expect it to complain that it can't unmount it
because it is busy. But it happily lets me unmount
it. If I continue editing the file and save it, it creates
a new file in the empty mount point directory.
Another thing I noticed is that the little desktop
icon that pops up when I mount the crypt directory
has a right click menu to unmount, but it gives
an error about it not being in fstab when I try
to unmount it that way.
Are either or both of these bugs?
Thanks,
David

I see what's happening there (you can sure confirm by looking at the menu in
http://arielch.fedorapeople.org/images/OOo_vcl_plugin_gen.png ): OOo is
painting the UI itself, not using native widgets. This is really strange,
running inside a Gnome desktop env.
Please try the following:
a) open a terminal and export the following env. vars.:
~]$ export SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN="gtk";export OOO_FORCE_DESKTOP="gnome"
then invoke OOo executable from within that same shell.
Does OOo look like a Gnome app.?
b) If the above does not work, then something is wrong with the vcl gtk plug-
in. Either the library is missing, or it has linking issues, or ...
Do the following:
Go to /opt/openoffice.org/basis3.2/program
~]$ cd /opt/openoffice.org/basis3.2/program
Check you have the gtk vcl plug-in library:
program]$ ls -l libvclplug_gtk*.so
should output something like:
-r--r--r--. 1 root root 383640 feb 13 09:16 libvclplug_gtklx.so
If you have that library, try seeing if there is some linking issue:
program]$ ldd -v libvclplug_gtkl*.so

F12 Bug 540584 recrudesces
by Beartooth
RedHat Bugzilla Bug 540584 is suddenly biting again, harder than
ever, since yesterday's PackageKit update on F12.
Now, if behind the Trendnet TK-407 USB KVM switch, none of the
three machines sees keyboard, mouse, nor even a login display. (I found a
good home for the fourth machine.)
Yesterday having been a large occasion here, I have not yet tried
to ssh into a machine behind the switch from one not behind it. Even
before that, I want to make sure all machines still work normally when
not behind the switch. (Time was when new releases had to be installed on
machines not behind the KVM switches of that time.)
I'll report more when I have any more, here or on the bugzilla --
and I suggest that be reopened. (I have sent copies of this post to the
two addresses that seem relevant, on the bottom of the bugzilla entry.)

Latest 2.6.33.1-24.fc13.x86_64 kernel still crashes on shutdown
by Bill Davidsen
I see all the reports of crash on shutdown have been marked as duplicates of
572868, but the latest kernel didn't help (I misunderstood "there's a patch" to
mean "which fixes the problem") so if you test 64 bit fc13 you may want to
manually unmount large filesystems before the shutdown->crash cycle.
It feels like Toyota, once you get it going the only way to stop is to crash.
When running, the fc13 pre-beta is actually quite stable for me. One VM network
issue, not bad for bleeding edge.

Open Office 3.2 Issues in Fedora 12
by Alexis Pardo
Hello Ariel:
I'm using the .tar.gz version of OOo 3.2. My desktop is gnome and it's
under Fedora 12.
What do you mean when you mention "the version compiled by OOo engineers"?
is this the version?
http://download.services.openoffice.org/files/localized/es/3.2.0/OOo_3.2....
OOo 3.1 with Fedora 12 = looks fantastic
OOo 3.2 with Fedora 12 = looks terrible
thanks!

are you using the version compiled by OOo engineers?
what desktop environment are you using?
This looks like a vcl plugin issue.

Amarok 2.3: how to change playlist order
by Andrea
Hi,
In Amarok 2.3 Fedora 11 I don't seem to be able to rearrange the order of songs in the playlist.
On the right side of the screen there is the playlist of songs currently played.
When I try to drag and drop one of them in a different place nothing seems to happen, but I can see
visual feedback of the drag action and a "cursor" indicating the position of the drop. Just it does
not happen.
And when I drag song to the playlist, they are added in a random (AFAIU) position.
Any idea?

Dear all,
I have installed VirtualBox,
$ rpm -qa | grep -i virtualbox
VirtualBox-3.1-3.1.6_59338_

Removing old VirtualBox kernel module [ OK ]
Recompiling VirtualBox kernel module [ OK ]
Starting VirtualBox kernel module [ OK ]
but when I start VirtualBox, it says:
VirtualBox: supR3HardenedMainGetTrustedMain:
dlopen("/usr/lib/virtualbox/VirtualBox.so",) failed:
/usr/lib/virtualbox/VirtualBox.so: undefined symbol:

Deleting all image files with "small" keyword
by Don KeLzy
I've been using Fedora for a while, but I must confess that when it
comes to shell scripting I'm found wanting many a times.
The thing is, I have an Audio Folder which contains hundreds of track
with Album arts. Most of the album arts are small and Big, I would
want a script which would search my audio directory and it sub-folders
and delete all image files with the term "small" as part of the file
names (eg, AlbumartSmall, Folder_small etc ...)
