how to enable 11N wireless?
by jack craig
Hi Folks,
my netbook has:
Network controller: Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 4965 AG (rev 61)
Ethernet controller: Attansic Technology Corp. Atheros AR8121/AR8113/AR8114 PCI-E Ethernet Controller (rev b0)
I know the 4965 supports both G & N protocols. only G is being used; how do i enable N ?
do i need to kick the controller? on moblin, it said AGN in the banner!
Thx, jackc...

remote controls config problem
by Dj YB
hello,
I am trying to config a y04g0033 tv remote control using my tv card for use
with several applications.
however only few buttons are being recognized and all others are not, the few
are the numbers and the enter buttons.
I know all the buttons are working properly and as well that the signal is
good, trying to cat /dev/input/event7 i can see that all buttons are received.
I am trying to configure the remote to work with mplayer and xmms.
thanks,
YB.

Dictionary for aspell / ispell???
by Robert Nichols
When I try to run a spelling check in emacs, I get:
ispell-init-process: Error: No word lists can be found for the language "en_US".
I get a similar message when I try to invoke aspell directly.
aspell-0.60.6-7.fc12.x86_64
I've looked around, but can't find what I need to install.

Re: Update broke network
by Gabriel
Was the kernel updated? Maybe rollback to your previous kernel, and then do a yum update.
Anytime updates bork my systems, that's what I do :) (not very scientific I know, but hey!!!)

Sent: 4 Mar 2010 1:35 PM
Hello,
On a machine I do not use very often, I just pulled in the updates
of the last two weeks, rebooted, and the network connection is gone.
And I need it, now. This is a big disaster. This is Fedora 13.
What can I do? Thanks.
Take care

gnome on F12 can't auto login user1, but can direct login user2
by L
Hi
I have 2 users; USER1 and USER2 on F12. On gnome, I set USER1 to be
auto login as below /etc/gdm/custom.conf
# GDM configuration storage
[xdmcp]
[chooser]
[security]
[debug]
[daemon]
TimedLoginEnable=true
TimedLogin=USER1
TimedLoginDelay=5
the problem is that I can't log out USER1 and login USER2. When I log
out USER1, click on USER2, it shows select language and click on
login. after did language selection and click on login, system seems
starting login process, but failed login and automatic back to the log
in screen again.
my temporary solution is that keep USER1 login and use 'Switch User'
to log into USER2.
hope some share fix for me

Degraded software RAID5 array without notice
by Rolf Fokkens
Hi,
Ik accidentally discovered that my software RAID5 array was degraded:
one of the three disks had been kicked out of the array.
It appeared that disk /dev/sda1 had been disabled 5 days before! I was
totally unaware of the problem, which is odd.
syslog shows the moment the array got into trouble:

What surprises me is the fact that the system didn't inform me (except
for the syslog messages) that there was something seriously wrong, It
should have done so by alarming popups in X, or whatever.
Probably I just misconfigured something, but maybe Fedora has no
software installed (or available) to alarm the user about these serious
events.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Rolf

Fedora 11 won't boot after update.
by Henrik Frisk
Hi,
Let me begin by apologizing for not being able to give more info about this
problem than what I do, but I simply don't know how to go about it. I have a
MacBook Pro (5,2) on which I have happily run FC11 for some time. Tonight,
while I was working on something a message about suggested updates popped up
and for the first time I did what I've never done before: I clicked "Install
all updates" without checking what it was. I then left off. When I came back
the screen had frozen. I did a forced reboot but now the computer hangs
after the GRUB screen. There are no messages that I am able to intercept,
just a black screen with a cursor in the top left corner.
It is possible that my laptop ran out of power in the middle of the update
(but not very likely; I had just started it up and it usually runs a couple
of hours before needing a recharge.)
Any hints on how to resolve this issue would be greatly appreciated.
best,
/Henrik

Media palyers in KDE hide mouse cursor
by Mick M.
Hi;
I have noticed that all the media players in KDE hide the mouse cursor.
Not only that they appear to disable it for a while.
If you play a video file and move the cursor over the video it vanishes.
You have to wiggle the mouse like mad to get it back.
How do I turn the is feature off?
I am using the classic KDE cursor font.
(F12z64 fully updated)

Standard guarantee applies - 30 feet or 30 seconds, whichever comes first.

F12: .gvfs is no longer dynamic?
by Dan Thurman
I have once was able to have a fully active remote
network connection to a .gvfs mounted filesystem from
which I could do a 'tail -f <gvfs-mounted-fs>/file.log, but
now, it does not work. It works on F9, 10, and I am not
sure about F11, but definitely sure that F12 does not.
Has this been reported before, is this considered
a bug, or is intended by (new) design?

F12: Kernel dump.

ABRT has reported several kernel dumps and
I was not able to get the report sent, so I deleted
the report entries and moved on.
However, I was perusing the /var/log/message log
file and found the following but do not know what
to make of it, perhaps you might know?
