brand new chinese mobile phone: webcam usage
by Hiisi
Dear list!
I've a nice chinese mobile phone [1] and would like to use its webcam
on F12 [2]. Connecting it through ISB-cable results in errors [3]. I
can't find appropriate solution in google. But as I can see there's
some problems with usb 2-2 support in my kernel and this particular
phone model. Is there an option I should add to kernel boot parameters
[4] in order to disable USB 2 support? Will it work after that? Is
there a better solution?
Thanks in advance!

SMS server/gateway
by Jamie Bohr
I am looking for a SMS server software for RHEL.
The phones we use can receive email but it does not always get to the phone
in a timely manner and sometimes I get "connected refused" when trying to
send messages via email. I've looked at smstools and Googled around but
would like the forums opinion on what they have used and experiences.
Thank you for your time,

MySQL backward compatibility question
by Tom Horsley
I'm starting to play around with MySQL and PHP on fedora 12.
With Fedora's fanatical devotion to churning out latest
versions of everything, I'm just wondering what the rate
of new MySQL versions that are non-backward compatible
has been like.
Would I be better off using mysqldump and restoring databases
across fedora releases as time goes on, or is just restoring the
/var/lib/mysql datadir sufficient to retore databases most
of the time?
Just curious about the best way to approach backups if I
actually accumulate any useful data in these experiments...

Converting html to text ?!?
by Bill Case
Hi;
I have been using Notecase for a couple of years. I would like to keep
it but it seems it is no longer being maintained as open source.
∴ I would like to use Lyx as my large note taker or draft writer
application. The problem is Notecase uses an *.ncd suffix which is
unrecognized by Lyx. When I examine the files I want to import from
Notecase to Lyx they are designated in the header as:
<!DOCTYPE NoteCase-File>
<!--LastNote:41-->
<HTML>
<HEAD>
<meta content="text/html;charset=UTF-8"
http-equiv="Content-Type">
<meta name="generator" content="NoteCase 1.6.1">
<TITLE></TITLE>
... etc.
The markup is almost certainly html.
How can I convert these files into *.txt? I have tried several
variations of:
]$ html2text -o ~/UMLC.txt file:///home/bill/NoteCaseDocs/UMLC.
*Cannot open input file "file:///home/bill/NoteCaseDocs/UMLC.*".
Any suggestions greatly appreciated on how to import these (I have
several) *.ncd files into Lyx.

general advice for rolling back yum updates?
by Mark Miller
Hello, all.
I recently ran a <yum update> on my mythdora server, which updated my myth
applications from 0.22-1 to 0.22-5. Now the mythfrontend application
terminates right after being launched and the log ends with
2010-02-28 10:27:10.774 Registering Internal as a media playback plugin.
Floating point exception
I have written to the myth users list, but I thought somebody on this list
might be able to give me some advice, too.
Since the previous version of the myth apps ran pretty well for me, I would
like explore the possibility of going back to that version. However, I
don't have any experience rolling back yum updates If rollbacks require
some before-the-fact configuration, I probably don't have that :-(
Any suggestions?

Connection problems with encrypted root partition
by Diego D.M.
Hi, every time i encrypt my root partition (encrypted at installation time)
i cannot establish connection with my wireless. It try to connect and ask me
again for WEP key again every time with no success. I've tried all
combinations, hex, pass string, ... with no avail.
I do it through NetworkManager, no DHCP, and all fields are correctly.
There is any issue about this already documented?. I've tried to search the
web but didn't find any documentation.
Thanks in advance.
