Bash globbing files only?
by Daniel Qarras
Hi all,
with Bash one can list directories (excluding dot dirs) like this:
ls [^.]*/
How can I list files instead of directories with Bash? I thought this
would be trivial but I can't find a solution anywhere.
Thanks.

Re: fedora-list Digest, Vol 35, Issue 313
by Robert Cahn
I have a page which is composed of 2 frames. The code for the page has has
the brackets removed
to avoid the email being bounced and is shown below:
frameset cols="25%,75%"
frame name="navigate" SRC=" mainmenu.html" marginwidth="10"
marginheight="10" noresize
frame name="maintext" SRC="indexmain.php" marginwidth="10"
marginheight="10" noresize
/frameset
In the navigation section I have a link to bringing up a login page in
maintext. If the UID, PW check out
I then issue the following from php
echo "html body script self.location=\"lmain.html\
";parent.navigate.location=\"lmenu.html\" /script /body /html";
In Firefox this works like a charm. In Microsoft IE the part
parent.navigate.location=\ "lmenu.html\"
fails. Can anyone suggest how to fix this problem with IE or where else to
submit this question?

After updating (yum-updatesd) the Beryl to the following version, when
Beryl is subsequently started i get the splash screen (which mentions
that 0.20 beta 2 instead) and a white screen. That is it. It was working
fine before the update. BTW, i run the latest nVidia (livna) driver.

Fedora Core 5: Don't know how to get changed the max size (1GB) of file in Edit --> Preferences -->Preview [SOLVED]
by Hilkka
Case Closed. Solution below helped in my initial problem, but the max
file size seems to be still 1GB in File Management Preference Preview
value list. Is the limit hardcoded?
Solution for being able to manage (e.g. download) files more than 1GB:
gconftool-2 --type int --set /apps/nautilus/preferences/thumbnail_limit 20971520
thx,
Hilkka

Would anybody advice me how to get the max limit for file sizes changed
in Edit --> Preferences --> Preview. The value list shows 1 GB to be the
max size I can use. I would need more than this.
Neither can find this information in the documentation.
Thank you,

audio problems in fc 6
by Manu G.V
hi,
when I try this command
$cat "file name" > /dev/dsp
I don't get any beep sound and there were no errors even. I don't
understand(Iam an end user) what is the problem. I installed torcs and tried
all audio options but there was no sound. I was told to try above command to
find whether my audio worked properly or not. I thought if there is no beep
sound then there is some problem with audio. Is there any relationship
between the above command and problem with the sound in torcs. I have
"nVidia Corporation MCP51 High Definition Audio" device.
I would be really thankful if anyone can tell me what is the problem and
suggest a solution for it.

But cron won't be waiting, and will still run its other jobs on> time!This is true, James, but my backup script, which I simply drop into /etc/cron.daily IS affected. I just let it run along with the other system jobs and all used to be fine. I had the whole shitload set to run at 10 minutes past the hour and after it was done, I could turn off my computer. Now, I have to either let the computer run for up to 68 minutes, just to guarantee that the jobs even start, let alone finish. I feel the best option to reintroduce full error-free functionality is to disable the delay script.kwhiskerz{

I have never seen them before, so something really has changed since the update.Nevertheless, as I had said, yum said that rpmsave files were created, but none actually were ever there when I went to look, which was immediately after the update. Either they never got created, or some automatic mechanism deleted them as soon as they were created.The named server appears to be running fine, however, as I can connect to the internet without problems.
