I have seen this happen on a couple of systems here, where it was due to
attempting to run something that used GLX (like glxinfo) where the video
card didn't support that. However, we experienced this already last week
(or probably since the upgrade to FC6, since these systems are in a
student computer lab and were unused for most of december and early
january). So maybe it's unrelated.
However, it was quite reproducible:
- log in under X, run e.g. glxinfo, log out -> hangs
- remote log in using ssh, run gdm-restart as root, system ok
- log in, do anything you like except GLX stuff, log out -> fine
maybe this is of some help to you.

Can't
do anything but ctrl-alt-backspace to continue the action. Anyone see
this?
