"put on all workspaces" command?
by Andrew Konosky
I added "gkrellm" (the system monitor thingy) to my startup programs,
but it only starts on workspace 1. What is the terminal command line or
option to start a program on all workspaces?

SATA disk woes...
by Per Thomsen
I have installed an Addonics 4-port SATA (RAID-ish) controller (Silicon
Image 3114 chipset, I believe), and 2 200G SATA drives. I did not create
any RAID volumes in the BIOS. Running FC2 and yum every day.
I'm having trouble seeing the drives. /etc/sysconfig/hwconf states:
[snip]
-
class: HD
bus: SCSI
detached: 0
device: sda
driver: ignore
desc: "Ata WDC WD2000JD-00H"
host: 2
id: 0
channel: 0
lun: 0
generic: sg0
-

device: sdb
driver: ignore
desc: "Ata WDC WD2000JD-00H"
host: 3

lun: 0

pciType: 1
pcidom: 0
pcibus: 2
pcidev: 8

but 'fdisk -l' doesn't see the drives. It only sees my IDE drives.
Help!
I must be missing something really simple, but I can't seem to figure
out what it is.
Thanks in advance,
Per Thomsen

... QUOTED THE ENTIRE DIGEST !!!
Please do not quote the entire list digest in your reply. It's really,
really annoying when the rest of us are reading through it.
Please, too many people are doing this. Stop, already.

[yum] kernel-sourcecode-0-2.6.7-1.494.2.2.noarch not updating
by Neal Becker
kernel-sourcecode-0-2.6.7-1.494.2.2.noarch doesn't want to install.
I even did yum erase kernel-sourcecode. But then if I do yum install
kernel-sourcecode:
I will do the following:
[install: kernel-sourcecode 2.6.6-1.435.2.3.noarch]
What's up with that? I have in /var/cache/yum/
/var/cache/yum/updates-released/headers/kernel-sourcecode-0-2.6.7-1.494.2.2.noarch.hdr

Fedora Core 1 Status Update
by Bill Nottingham
The Fedora Steering Committee proposes to transfer Fedora Core 1 to the
Fedora Legacy Project at the point Fedora Core 3 Test 2 is released. This
is currently scheduled for September 13, 2004.
This represents a one month extension from the original timetable but an
extension we hope will enable the Fedora Legacy Project to receive
considerably better quality access to the codebase.
For more information on the Fedora Legacy Project, or if you wish to join
the team please see http://fedoralegacy.org/.

Arrgh! Compaq kernel panic after install
by David Nedrow
On a Compaq Proliant DL360, I can install Fedora Core 2 without a
problem. However, on the first boot (and any subsequent boot), the
kernel panics when trying to open the root device.
Basically, here's the output:
RAMDISK: Compressed image found at block 0
VFS: Mounted root (ext2 filesystem).
Red Hat nash version 3.5.22 starting
Mounted /proc filesystem
Mounting sysfs
Loading jbd.ko module
Loading ext3.ko module
Creating block devices
VFS: Cannot open roo device "LABEL=/" or unknown block(0,0)
Please append a correct "root=" boot option
Kernel panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(0,0)
I suspect that the cpqarray driver is not loading. Is there a way in
grub to instruct the kernel (or mod-utils) to load a specifc driver
during boot?

Summer Reading
by Nate
Hello All,
I contacted the list yesterday regarding a problem getting my DSL connection working. I am pleased to report that it is now working with all the help. I was wondering if anyone had suggestions on a good linux book. I have linux for non-geeks, but it is lacking in detail. I guess I should face the fact that I am a geek and find something a little bit more meaty. Has Oprah suggested anything?
Thanks Again,
Nate

Configre GRE tunnels?
by Chris Adams
Is there a handy-dandy whiz-bang way to configure GRE tunnels under FC2?
I know I can write a script and put it in rc.local or something, but I
was wondering if there was a way to configure GRE tunnels in
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts (like just about everything else network
related can be configured).
