How to stop "at" command e-mail me!
by Jorge Fábregas
Hello all,
I use mpg123 as a morning alarm. I place the job using the "at" command. I'm
always getting output from the job (the mpg123 output bla bla) to my regular
user mail. Fine..I just redirected stdout and stderr:
/usr/local/bin/mpg123 $HOME/musicfile.mp3 > /dev/null 2>&1
However, I still get mail saying "Job XXX Terminated..." I read the man page
and searched Google but there's nothing out there. Anyone knows how to deal
with it?
Thanks,
JOrge

libbonobo UD Breaks Evol. + Yum Problem
by David Cary Hart
libbonobo 2.6.2-1.i386 breaks Evolution. I get repeated screens with the
incoherent CORBA messages. It's an easy fix - just re-install the old
package BUT;
I cannot get Yum to recognize multiple excludes from yum.conf. I already
have kernel* excluded. What magic incantation is required to add
libbonobo? I have tried multiple exclude statements as well as one
exclude with commas, tabs and spaces. Nothing works.

Bigger cursor FC2
by Dalibor Malek
Hi All,
I'm trying to make a bigger cursor on FC2.
I'm using KDE as default.
I made a file in my directory and in the root directory named .Xdefaults.
In Xdefaults I wrote
Xcursor.size: 64.
Well this is working fine with the boot graphics and as long as the KDE
loading window is showing.
When KDE is loaded the cursor shrinks back to normal.
I didn't find anything like that in the list archive.
Can some one Help me?
Thank You.

Moving FC1 - how do I specify new swap partition ?
by Thiers Botelho
Hi all,
Situation:
I'm moving an (outdated) FC1 installation from a cramped, old
workstation to a brand-new one.
Previous one was a dual-boot with Win 2K, new one will be a
dual-boot with Win XP.
I'm using partimage from a live CD (System Rescue) to load
partition images generated on the old system into pre-created empty ext3
partitions on the new system.
Partitions being moved are **/boot** and **/** .
Partition layout on new system is a bit different from old system.
Swap partition was freshly created on new system (used Partition
Magic 8.01 under Win XP).
Questions:
How do I inform FC1 about the currrent location of the swap
partition ?
I recall having read (somewhere - ???, sometime ago . . .) that in
such cases the swap partition would be automatically detected and used. If
such is the case, a confirmation would be gladly welcome.
Thanx all

Bruno,
You might want to consider a "Sound Editor.
Google for "Audacity", is a nice free sound editor.
You will also need "Lame", an MP3 encoder.
You can then select each song and save it to an MP3 file.
It is easy to use supports other plugins, as well.

Jake,
I no longer use sendmail (I now use postfix), but I had a similar problem
with dictionary attacks because my sendmail MTA was a frontend for an
exchange server. To insure that sendmail "only" accepted/relayed e-mail for
valid accounts on the exchange server, I used the following approach (trick)
in /etc/mail/access. Maybe it will work for you. I have copy/pasted a backup
copy of my previous sendmail access file configuration (with a few edits).
As always, you milage may vary based on how sendmail is configured at your
end, so be sure to make a backup of your current access file -and- be sure
to run an open relay checker against any changes you make. I've always used
the following site for testing:
http://www.abuse.net/relay.html
<copy/paste /etc/mail/access>
# If this is both an inbound and outbound MTA, then add the systems that
# are allowed to relay e-mail through this system.
192.168.1 RELAY
# Reject both envelope sender (mail from) and recipients (rcpt to)
# that contain mydomain.com
mydomain.com REJECT
# To negate the above reject, add only "valid" recipients for mydomain.com
scowles(a)mydomain.com OK
postmaster(a)mydomain.com OK
etc...
Note 1: The above implementation was based on reading:
http://www.sendmail.org/m4/anti_spam.html#access_db
The really confusing part about sendmail (versus postfix) is understanding
in which context the access file is consulted. i.e. is the test done against
the envelope sender or recipient or both. What a PITA. Postfix does a lot
better job at implementing these types of tests.
Note 2: Maintaining a valid list of exchange recipients (mailboxes) on the
sendmail server was accomplished by writing a shell script that did an LDAP
query against the exchange server to build an access formatted list of valid
mailboxes. This script was run as an hourly cronjob. This way, when I made a
change (add/delete) on the exchange server, it was replicated to the
sendmail frontend. In fact, I still do this with postfix as a frontend.
Note 3: When an invalid recipient was specifed (like during a dictionary
attack), it was rejected after the "rcpt to"; thus no DSN/bounce was
generated by sendmail. i.e. The rejection occurs before the inbound e-mail
is submitted to the queue for delivery. Nice!!!
Hope the above solution at least points you in the right direction for
achieving your goal.
