Hi all, if you were accepted to a Fedora Summer Coding program for
Summer 2019, this email includes important info for you about
registering and attending the annual Fedora contributor conference,
Flock, in Budapest, Hungary from 8-11 August:
https://flocktofedora.org/
What's in this email?
=====================
1. Mentor discussion
2. Registration / visa letters
3. Travel / accommodation assistance
4. Summer Coding showcase
5. Call for Proposals (CfP)
Mentor discussion
=================
Flock is an opportunity to meet other Fedora Summer Coding students,
your mentor(s), and other Fedora community members. While it is not a
mandatory component of Summer Coding, all students are highly encouraged
to make an effort to attend.
Discuss with your mentor(s) about attending Flock. Your mentor(s) can
advise you on how Flock may fit into your milestones during the
internship. This can also be a great opportunity to interact with the
rest of the Fedora community in regards to your project work. For
example, a GSoC student ran 15 minute usability tests on her project
work with randomly-selected people at the conference.
Registration / visa letters
===========================
Do not delay registration and requesting a visa letter if needed.
Registration is handled on Eventbrite. Flock 2019 includes a small
*optional* registration fee to help offset the costs of swag and lunch.
This fee is scaled by country using the Big Mac Index and is based on a
$25 Fee in the United States:

letter as soon as possible**:

Summer Coding showcase
======================
Fedora Summer Coding mentors and admins will organize a Summer Coding
showcase at Flock 2019. This is an opportunity for all Summer Coding
interns to summarize their work and show any demos of their project work
to the rest of the Fedora community. Each Summer Coding intern will have
about 15 minutes to present their work.
If you will attend Flock, discuss with your mentor later this summer
about what to include in the showcase.
Call for Proposals (CfP)
========================
The Flock call for proposals opened today. We encourage all students to
present their intern work in the Summer Coding showcase, but you may
also submit a talk to go into greater detail or to cover a specific
component of your work. If you submit a standalone session, we encourage
you to work with your mentor(s) on
To submit a topic for the CfP, see more info below:
