Fedora 11 + rpm 4.7.0 + mock EL5 issue
by Remi Collet
Hi,
I'm used to build a lot of RPM from my Fedora box, especially for EL 5
But if I create the .src.rpm in F11 (rpm 4.7.0), mock is unable to
install it (rpm 4.4.2) because it couldn't check new default checksum.
A workaround is to first mock for F10 and then use the new .src.rpm
I'm searching for a way to build .src.rpm using old checksum behavior,
but I don't find any solution
Any idea welcome.
Remi.

upgrade for a couple hours without any luck. Has anyone seen anything

f12 boost-1.39.0 upgrade: notice of intent
by Benjamin De Kosnik
Hey.
The boost maintainers are planning to update the boost versions
to the current release (1.39.0) in rawhide for F12.
Tentative F10/F11 built srpm is here:
http://people.redhat.com/bkoz/boost/boost-1.39.0-0.3.fc11.src.rpm
Suggested plan is to push this to devel in 24 hrs, which will be
announced on fedora-devel-announce(a)redhat.com.
BuildRequires for boost packages must be adjusted as part of this
rebase. As always, timely assistance from package maintainers
is welcome.
best,
-benjamin

Maximum and minimum install options
by Henrique Junior
Hello, folks,
Many times in my work I find myself with the need for an installation of
Fedora that was as minimal as possible. Something like a text mode with the
least amount of fat possible, and if I remember correctly, in the past, Red
Hat Linux count with two options to install: the maximum and minimum
installation.
I'm thinking if there are any chance to have this install options in Fedora
in the near future.

Multiple repositories or multiple subdirectories
by Robert Marcano
I have local mirrors of the Fedora repositories to serve the internal
requirements without downloading each update for every machine. We do
not install games nor KDE applications, but everytime there is an update
for those packages the network is used.
There are solutions like SpaceWalk for the updates problem, but at the
same time we need to have some packages available to install if needed,
not only updates. Another options is to use an intelligent mirror that
check package groups and download only the groups you are interested
from the mirror, but that adds another complexity over the standard
mirror tool that is rsync
Maybe creating a repository layout like
repodata
base
x
gnome
kde
development
...
could make easy for mirrors to tell rsync to ignore some directories.
createrepo already support a nested structure, What do you think about
that?.

Fedora-ARM: Koji builds and Contributions
by Kedar Sovani
FYI,
-----Forwarded Message-----
From: fedora-arm-bounces(a)redhat.com [mailto:fedora-arm-bounces@redhat.com] On Behalf Of Kedar Sovani
Sent: 06 May 2009 18:21
To: fedora-arm(a)redhat.com
Subject: [fedora-arm] Koji builds and Contributions
As mentioned earlier a lot of koji build activity can be seen at the ARM koji server. (http://arm.koji.fedoraproject.org/koji) The goal is to be as close to the Fedora releases as possible. And F-11 is the upcoming release.
The set of supported packages is growing. Although we'll try to make sure that the Fedora repositories just build with ARM out of the box, as packages move forward there will be few breakages. Any contributions for this effort are welcome.
Currently, the following types of builds are taking place:
* Packages are being "shadowed" (using koji-shadow) from dist-f11 upstream
* New packages are being built for dist-f10
* New versions are being built for dist-f10-updates
As we go through these build iterations, quite a few builds will fail. The failure could be a genuine failure requiring a patch, or a failure because of build ordering. The failed tasks can be looked at from the koji interface.
Feel free to send out patches to fedora-arm(a)redhat.com and then to respective package maintainers for fixing build failures. You could also help in analyzing or fixing build ordering related issues with your Fedora koji accounts.
Kedar.

what is needed for plymouth to boot with gfx?
by Christoph Höger
Hi,
after the latest batch of updates I got pretty KMS-based-shutdown gfx
from plymouth, but (still) no bootup gfx.
What is needed to get that too?
(plugins and stuff are installed, kms works)
regards
christoph
