There is NO fork, EGLIBC always will be based on GLIBC. So it will
be a step behind GLIBC, and it is oriented to embedded systems.
NO gain for Fedora.

Hello,
I ran the following command this morning:
sudo yum --disableplugin=remove-with-leaves groupremove "KDE (K Desktop

crypto consolidation status?
by Adam Goode
Hi,
Some of my colleagues work on an RPC library that will be gaining TLS
support. http://minirpc.cs.cmu.edu/
Being familiar with
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/FedoraCryptoConsolidation
I of course told them that NSS was the best library to use for this.
But there are a few issues with this:
* What is the rationale for requiring a shared certificate
store? More importantly, we would like to allow an application to
temporarily use a private cert (that it may trust for some reason)
without spreading that trust to all applications on the system.
It seems like the issue of certificate management is separable
from the actual crypto part.
* We are trying to use TLS from a library. The NSS documentation seems
to suggest that calling NSS_Init more than once is bad. It doesn't
look like it would be safe to call NSS_Init from a library. Really
NSS should be returning a context object that encapsulates all NSS
state, yes?
* It's not obvious what to pass to NSS_Init. Looking at nss_compat_ossl
shows some tricks with getenv("SSL_DIR") and such. Is that practice
documented anywhere?
I know things are better with NSS 3.12. But it is not entirely clear how
to write code to best take advantage of this and future enhancements, as
the wiki claims. ("Conversion to NSS will automatically add these
features to those applications that convert.")
It almost seems like a little more work is needed in NSS before it can
really work as the one true crypto library.
Thanks,
Adam

Fedora Release Engineering Meeting Recap - 2009-05-04
by Bill Nottingham
== Preview Release ==
Known issues:
* PPC had a variety of issues
o oversized
o installed the wrong kernel
o failed to install a bootloader
* assorted anaconda partitioning issues
Discussed maybe using a separate config for PPC to keep it under size
constraints, but it was decided to stay with one config.
== Deltarpm for F11 ==
Work needs done to either compose updates in a chroot (which has the F11
deltarpm support) or to backport it to the OS release used to generate
updates. Seth Vidal is going to investigate which of these makes more sense.
Given the timeframe, this is tight for F11 final. rawhide will continue to
have deltas, as that's a separate compose process.
== F12 schedule ==
The schedule proposed by John Poelstra for Fedora 12 in
https://fedorahosted.org/rel-eng/ticket/1271 was reviewed. The following
changes were approved:
* the alpha milestone was removed entirely
* due to conferences such as the Red Hat Summit, LinuxCon, and Linux
Plumber's Conference, each milestone from 'Final freeze: development'
(2009-09-15) should be shifted out one week.
This pushes GA from 2009-10-27 to 2009-11-03. The schedule will be presented
for FESCo discussion at the 2009-05-08 meeting.
For more information on any of these, see the full transcript at:

f12 boost-1.39.0 upgrade: pushed
by Benjamin De Kosnik
The boost maintainers have updated the boost package
to the current release (1.39.0) in rawhide for F12.
Rebuilds for devel packages that require boost are mandatory, as SONAME
was bumped. In addition, BuildRequires for boost packages may now be
specified with finer granularity.
Help from other package maintainerswith rebuilding is appreciated.
