It is important to realize that a large number of linux users are not native
English speakers. Many of these users will have difficulties recognizing
and understanding humorous posts.
Doubts: Maybe search the old Redhat mailing archives like so:
site:redhat.com/archives/ "sucks"
Or for an extra loud laugh replace "sucks" by "wh{*beep*}re" ...
And if I'm already at it: if you're interested in the real old RH
archives, because it can be real fun to read, up from 1998 (because
Redhat now only has them stored up from around six years later):
https://web.archive.org/web/20190724032912/https://www.redhat.com/archive...
To compare then, you might try a look at a recent posting on Redhat
bugzilla, just one example, from 2018:
----------------
"Just a friendly reminder on expected behavior:
https://getfedora.org/code-of-conduct.html.en
I see an increase in negative-toned comments here, which are not
helpful or constructive. Please keep that in mind."
