what you want is either a "userChrome.css" file for the changes or
you can make changes in "about:config".
i looked for my notes on changing with "userChrome.css", but did not
find.
with "about:config", set "Search:" to following names, change as
shown;
browser.display.background_color #000000
browser.display.foreground_color #FFFFFF
browser.display.focus_text_color #FFFFFF
editor.background_color #FFFFFF
messagecompose.background_color #000000
msgcompose.text_color #FFFFFF
note the 3 basic categories, _browser_, _edit_, _compose_, which
relate to their window. if you use those names in search, you will
see what you can change for colors just by looking for #xxxxxx in
value column.
2 changes that i am not sure about, 'quote bar' and 'quoted text'.
i did find a note on sites related to userChrome.css and will check
them after i send this info so you can get some changes made.
there are more that will/may need changing, depends on what you want
links and email addresses, view and compose windows, address book.
all of which depends on what you want.
basicly, if you open "about:config"
