Why not start with using the radeon driver which is shipped with Fedora?
Afaik there's no need to setup anything as it's automagically detected.

Patrick
I use the radeon driver on an X2300 without problems on a Compaq 6910 laptop

Yes sir. All the other machines are Windows machines.

Thanks so much. I am storing this information away
for the next time, which will probably be in a couple
weeks. I just downloaded and installed VMWare on this
new Windows machine.

Xerox 3140 Linux drivers (oct 2009) support "Fedora Core 2 - FC10" (?) (!)
by Fernando Cassia
Everything hints that the Xerox Phaser 3140 is a GDI printer aka WinPrinter.
However, all cheap lasers are nowadays (whish I could find one with PCL5... ).
The printer was apparently discontinued last year but they´re still
selling it down here in South America
They provide binary drivers for Linux (dated October 2009) at
http://www.support.xerox.com/support/phaser-3140/downloads/enza.html?oper...
Since I don´t have access to my F17 system right now (I have it shut
down while I assemble a RAID sata enclosure)
could someone please let me know if at least the package provided by
Xerox installs fine in F17 ?
I´d really appreciate it. TIA...

The Windows 7 is working as it is intended to work, but I
don't like the way any windows works since Win2000. In
Win 7 the search is broke, getting to the desktop is too
hard, and dragging a folder or file to another folder is
WAY harder than it was in any other previous Windows version.
The "restore previous versions" is very nice, and I guess the
remote desktop if pretty good, but MS makes too many stupid
decisions for my liking.

Moonlight/Silverlight addition for Linux Firefox?
by Paul Erickson
Has anyone been able to get the Moonlight addition for Linux Firefox to
work? I've have been trying to watch some of the Olympics online, and
after installing the Silverlight/Moonlight extension as instructed
cannot see the webcasts. I suspect MS deliberately broke them for non
MS users. Anyone having any success?

lxdm theme
by Trutwin, Joshua
Anyone have any lxdm theme's they care to share - google isn't coming up with much. I'd like to change the default theme as the huge "Login:" looks odd and also add some custom text. Not familiar with glade3 so any examples others have would be helpful.
Thank you,

SPAM filtering where From == To
by Gary Stainburn
Hi folks.
I'm using Exim and Spamassassin at work and would like to add a check.
I've noticed that a lot of SPAM has the recipient in the from header. Does
anyone know how to check for this?

Yes, I sure will. I'm anxious to see what people
have said. I've been away from my computer today and
need to leave again here in 15 minutes, so it will
be later tonight before I get to see these messages.
I get the digest version also, so I don't see the
messages right away.
Thanks a bunch guys and gals for responding. I'll
go through the messages tonight.

Proxy/network configuration prevents yum and firefox but not konqueror (FC17)
by Don Levey
So I can't wrap my head around what I might have done to create this
situation, or to back out of it.
I have one machine on my home network that I protect via a squid proxy -
my kids' machine. Somehow, something I (or they) did created a
situation where I cannot connect externally via Firefox, and cannot
connect to any repository via yum. However, Konqueror doesn't seem to
respect or use the proxy configuration, and can connect anywhere without
restriction (regardless of the system settings).
I don't think it's truly the proxy itself, though. I configured another
machine to use it without issue; Firefox and Yum both work without a
hiccup. What's more, disabling or completely removing the proxy
configuration on the problem PC doesn't seem to alleviate the problem.
I'm not even sure where I should look to gather more diagnostic info;
any suggestions?
Thanks in advance,
-Don
